Wilson Lake is a BEAUTIFUL CC. (West of Junction City and EAST of Hays KS on I-70)

Here is a link to Reserve America, just to see a few pictures of it

You may want to post your q in the "campgrounds and attractions" section for a better response

We are part of the kansas club, What part of the state do you live in? We normally make our rounds to Milford, Council Grove, Melvern, Clinton, Big hill, Perry, and well worth the 6 hour drive to Table Rock Lake in Missouri

What are you looking to do at the lake? Boating, fishing, hiking, atv trails, walking paths, each lake has its own little high lite, do you have kids that need a playground, frisbee golf course, beach. From Salina you have a easy drive to some good lakes to try out. We have a boat so a campground with a good boat ramp is a must for us. We see lots of people from Salina at Milford and Council Grove.

As long as its not a holiday weekend I think you will find most campgrounds are pretty laid back that are COE and state ran. Your private campgrounds stay pretty busy, party every weekend, durning the summer since your paying good money to keep your trailer at the lake full time most people are there every weekend. We have stayed at a couple private ran ones and would choose a COE or state ran any day over them.

Lindsborg here. Kanoplis is popular with us as it is just down the road. Quick weekend trips plus we can camp during the week and I can still make it to work if need be. Wilson lake is another place we like to go.

We go to Eldorado for short trips, just 30 mi. from our place. We like the campground below the dam,it has a small lake, there are alot of trees, the river runs through it,and there are several miles of paved bike trails. The maintinance has gone down hill since they closed the prisons minimal release facility(the inmates did the work) We also like Marion lakes campgrounds, they are well kept and run.though its about an hour away. For week long vacations we go to Grand Lake in OK. Or better yet Table Rock in MO.
