Inverter Generator - Harbor Freight ????

Has anyone purchased one (or 2) of these Harbor Freight Inverter Generators? They also have an RV Ready parallel cable for linking 2 of these generators together for an output around 3000 watts.

I like how compact these are.
I'm also shopping around for a generator of some sort. Still undecided.
Im all for positive reviews though and this puppy has nearly nothing but 5 star ratings.

I have not used the harbor freight generator, but I did look at it when I was shopping. I ultimately decided on the the champion 2000w inverter generator. It can be purchased for the same exact price and it is much quieter. The champion operates at 53 dBA vs 66 dBA for the predator. Parallel kit is also available for the champion, and they are stack-able..................if that's your thing.

They are selling them very cheaply. I saw a smaller one for less than $100 bucks last week.

I don't know anything about them.

I buy cheap stuff from Harbor Freight from time to time. I don't think I would look to them for a long lasting, high quality, generator.

For a tool I might use once a year that isn't a complex machine, no problem. It's cool seeing the lower priced options coming out, competition is great even if (I think) the competitors product kind of sucks. Buy a good generator that will last you 20 years, or buy 4 crappy ones lol.

I had never been in a Harbor Freight store so I stopped in one day last fall when I needed a bottle jack. I was not impressed with the quality or prices on the tools, most are private labeled and low quality. I tried to use the jack but after pumping and pumping it barely moved, so back it went and I will never step foot back in that flea market store. Its the old you get what you pay for and I will buy quality tools elsewhere.

I have purchased and used bottle jacks, jack stands, laser thermometers, torque wrenches and many other items from them and never have a problem. They are all cheap and china copies of the high end but not with the quality. Many want something to last a lifetime but many tools I use are not purchased to last long term.

A generator would be a little much to depend on long term. They have the best prices I have found on the boxes of latex throw away gloves I use when handling sewer hoses.

My exact thinking. I have bought many power tools, air powered stuff, and numerous hand tools etc. I even bought one of the less than $100 generators mentioned in another post. It is used here around the farm to run the weed eater, electric tiller, and other lawn equipment. That generator gets used 4 or 5 times a year and 2 yeaes later it is still starts with a couple pulls. It is rated at 800 working watts and is noisey but the squirrels don't seem to mind.

For camping and houseboating, I use Honda 2000's with 2 to pair up for the AC when I need it. Sad to say I sold our houseboat in November and the older Honda went with the boat. Will have to re evaluate the need for 2 if our summer camping increases. I would not want to rely on anything from H Freight when a no-start would leave me in the dark.

We have a Harbor Freight opening in our town in the next month or two, I am very happy that I won't have to drive 90 miles to the nearest one. I have also been researching to buy an inverter generator (or two to link). Despite the HF opening soon I have already decided to buy a Champion. I am very impressed by what I have read and I already have one of their 4kw conventional generators and I am very happy with it.

HF is great based on what I have bought, and I have bought many tools there including the impact wrench I used to do my ball joints on my 350. But I don't want to risk buying something this complex and expensive I'll be relying on to keep my TT cool in the middle of nowhere in 100+ degree weather, or to charge the batteries so I can run the furnace when it's 20 degrees at night and it's been too cloudy for solar.

If I turn my head so the generator is on my right side, and I remove my hearing aid, I probably will not hear it or is will be a soft hum. Darn M50's...

Getting one? Absolutely NOT, SOLAR is doing just fine! I received my Harbor Freight monthly flyer and saw that they had the inverter generator and I was wondering if anyone had one.

Harbor Freight is a great store if you don't want to pay inflated, name brand prices for tools that you might not use every day. Not sure about the quality/durability of their generators since I have my little Honda 2000, but the price is right for them. If I were in the market, I would probably buy one, and save $$$. You can always return it if it doesn't perform as you need.

PS My wife loves Harbor Freight. She goes there more often than I do.

I guess I am lucky. my wife loves the smell of rubber tires. She loves to wander HF and Tractor Supply.

Sometimes it's a blessing.

Mine is addicted to the smell of new shoes, not nearly the blessing of HF.
