Smile My Yuma Trip

Just got back from two months in Yuma last week-end. On the way down which took 3 nights and 4 days, the weather and roads co-operated other than about 50 miles of fog around Salt Lake City. I overnighted on the 3rd night at the RV campground at the old Oasis Casino which is now closed and on pulling into the lot I managed when turning a corner to hit a cement post with the slide on my Eagle. I have it now in for repairs which could cost me about 2 grand after they figure out the parts I will need. I knew better but fatigue and stupidity came into play.

My microwave which has only been used about 4 times in it's history gave up the ghost, so Wally World made a sale after getting to Yuma. My unit is a 07 and only has the analog TV in it and Canada does not switch over to digital until sometime in 2011 and I am not interested in dragging around sattelite equipment, and I was tired of trying to learn Spanish which is really as good as my French..... NIL.....

I went to all the major players and no one has the digital boxes for sale other than Radio Shack which had them back ordered, so I ended up again at Wally World and bought both a 32" and 19" Vizeo LCD TV's for what I thought was a good price and they were great.

Weather in Yuma this year was not bad but could have been better, cool at times and an unusual amount of rain, but it was better than snow.

I had free rent in an adult community and all I had to pay was water and electrical so my 2 months cost me 200 bucks for a large lot, with access to pool and hot tub so I was a happy camper.

My return home was clear and good and the only frustrating thing was the driving in Vegas and Salt Lake City, from now on I will time my travels to hit these places on the week-ends. We crossed over the border last Saturday and even though I was over on my alcohol allotment, they waved me through.

The Cdn dollar is almost at par so I will be buying US dollars until hopefully I can return to Yuma next year.http://www.jaycoowners.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Howdy Albertaguy,

Glad you had a good trip. Sorry for the damage to the slide. Got any pics of your rig and the trip? I bet you missed a BUNCH of terrible weather by being in Yuma.

Thanks for reply, I should have said the damage happened at the Oasis campground in Mesquite Nev.
We will probably head out to the Shuswap Lake in British Columbia come July for a couple of weeks where we stay at the government campground at Scotch Creek. It is a beautiful wooded area with tons of room between sites and many clean showers and toilets. There are no facilities but I am fully prepared with generator and some solar panels to keep my battery up. I do like to wander the beach early in the morning and after supper looking for my fortune with my trusty metal detector, not rich yet but maybe one day.........

I do have some great pics of my trip but for the life of me I don't know how to download them onto these sites. I have others who have tried to help me with no luck as their directions go right over my head. Now if I could find someone who could start me off by saying place your finger on this key and then hit this key I might be OK but then folks start to get technical and I am lost. I have no idea what is meant by cut and paste....... drag from here to there.... etc. Sorry!!!!
