Hi everyone. Just signed the contract on a new 2016 Jayco Redhawk 26X1 MH this morning. Brand new to the whole RV world although I was a Boy Scout many years ago.
There's a bit of a story behind our decision to purchase a Jayco, if you'll indulge me.
We actually purchased a brand new Forest River Forester 2401RS (MBS Sprinter) a few weeks ago. We were doing the PDI on the coach and all was going well until it was time to drive the unit. As the salesman was taking it off the sales lot, with me in the passenger's seat, water came pouring out of the ceiling above the cockpit. Not a trickle or a drip, but an absolute deluge came pouring out of the map lights, visors, Bluetooth microphone, switches and seams. It ran down the windshield and side windows. The salesman's comment was "well, this isn't good" as he headed for the service bays.
After the technicians pulled down the headliner and trim, I had the opportunity to check the bottom of the overhead bunk. The wood was wet and was water stained. At that point, we decided to pass on this particular unit.
My brother had a Jayco TT and told me often that he would buy another in a heartbeat. Jayco's 2 year bumper to bumper warranty was extremely attractive in light of the Forester experience so the search began... Others on this forum spoke glowingly of their Redhawk 26XM's (I've been lurking here for a while
) so Jayco moved to the top of the list.
Looking forward to taking delivery next Tuesday or Wednesday of the Redhawk and certainly looking to learn from other helpful members of this forum.
