New member introduction

Happy to be on JOF and looking forward to swapping information. I am no stranger to the outdoors and camping; however, I just purchased my first trailer (used Jayco Eagle 12 UDK) from a co-worker. I bought the trailer in effort to help make camping experiences a little more enjoyable for my 8yr old son who has taken my same interest with the outdoors, hunting and fly fishing. I've been in law enforcement for 24yrs and there is nothing more relaxing and enjoyable to me than being deep in the woods, away from the stresses of everyday life and teaching my children how to survive without video games and cell phones. My plan is to make any necessary repairs to my new trailer then start taking some short 4 to 5 day trips with my son as often as my work schedule permits. Please wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum and good luck to you and your son. The stress from your everyday job has to be tremendous. I do not envy your position but I do applaud you for your devotion to your job and to your family. Every day we see on the news some controversy involving a law enforcement officer. Good or bad, it still causes an untold amount of stress for all involved. I hope you and your son get many trips out to those wilderness areas you love. Maybe our paths will cross one day and I can thank you personally for the job you do. My hats off to you and all that wear uniforms.

Welcome, I am new also and it's great to see parents teaching the kids something other than video games. I love stream fishing and the outdoors. If only more parents would do what your doing and maybe even have the kids join the Girl or Boyscouts. What great experiences those groups offer. Enjoy, we pick up our new 2015 Jay Flight today at 3:30, feeling excited

Congratulations. I know once we purchased our first trailer, we went from tent camping a few times a year to going out multiple times a month (expect 30-50 nights this year). We keep all the basics in the trailer, so all we have to do is load up the food and cloths and go. Fishing stuff is in the hold all the time.

Still tent camp a few times a year (expect 10-15 nights this year)

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure your boys will enjoy the new adventures. They seem to forget all about the phones and games once they are outside and doing other fun things.
