New Member, looking to buy new Eagle TT

Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself, My name is Nelson and I have decided to join this forum due to the love of Jayco Products. Now I've only owned 1 but I loved it. It was an 08 23b Jayco Hybrid which we bought at the end of 2013. We decided to go with this model because our tow vehicle at the time [ 2014 Pathfinder ] was limited to 5000lbs. I had searched many other brands before deciding to go with the jayco, I just found other's to not be as well built as Jayco. We used it a lot during 2014 and this past year. However, We decided to sell it in Sept with intentions of upgrading to something a little bigger this spring. When we go camping we tend to take other family members which makes it a little cramped in a small TT. My wife and I wanted to upgrade to something a little upscale. I tried looking around at other makes and models but found myself always going back to Jayco models. I've been looking everyday since last Sept, no joke ! Models I looked at were Keystone outback/cougar, Forest River Prime Time Tracer/Lacrosse/Surveyor, Grand Designs Reflection, and Gulfstream. I looked at all of them. But kept going back to Jayco. I think I found our dream Travel Trailer. Its a 2015 Jayco Eagle 314 BHDS, Beautiful unit with lots of extras, and its priced over 20k lower then MSRP right now. Would like to here what others have to say about this model. Looking forward to hearing from this community. PS - We also upgraded our tow vehicle last Sept. It's a 2015 F150 Lariat sport 4x4.

Great looking trailer. Just be careful with the weight, not sure which engine or axle ratio you have. You can look up the towing specs for the 2015 models on Fords web site. The trailer specs show GVW of 9975# which is probably dry weight without any options and tongue weight of 920# which is probably on the light side. Sounds like this trailer is sitting on a dealers lot, if so have them look at the tag for the weight, or maybe you have done this already.

Dry weight of the unit is 8100lbs dry with a tongue weight of 1080 lbs. My truck has the 3.5 EB engine and 355 gears. Called ford customer service to find out exactly how much I can tow and this was there response.

Our records indicate that you contacted our centre on December 31, by phone and spoke to an agent. The agent advised you to take the vehicle to the dealer for the difficulty closing the doors so that they may look into the concern.

I also see that you were advised that your towing capacity is 9,100 lbs. That is not correct. That is the towing capacity of a 2015 F-150 with the 5.0L engine and you have the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Your vehicle’s factory installed towing package allows your vehicle to tow 10,700 lbs as long as you do not exceed the Gross Combined Weight Rating which is the total weight of the vehicle, occupants, cargo, and loaded trailer. For your vehicle that is 16,100lbs
I'm confident the truck will pull it fine, even with cargo weight, I would still be well below my max capacity.

Welcome to JOF! What is the payload of your new truck, that is a pretty long trailer so for a half ton you might get some white knuckles?
