2007 Jayco G2 29BHS

Been camping for years: tent trailer followed by a 18ft Skylark, 26ft Trail-Lite, and our current 29ft Jayco.

Wife, four kids (teens and 20's), and MIL, although it is seldom now that we all camp together ... a bit cramped if we do. Certainly like the Jayco quality and the layout of our 29BHS. Bought it used in 2015, from a friend of a friend, in great condition. Have it parked in the driveway at home.

Had to deal with a few issues already and that is why / how I found this forum:
  • stolen batteries - they cut through the lock on the locking bar that was already installed (middle of the day with me at home) ... I now bring the batteries in after camping
  • water coming in through the slide-out - figured out it was only in heavy rain and when the slide-out side was higher than the door side ... now make sure I am level both ways (first time with a slide-out )
  • currently dealing with mice (first time ever ), possibly came in through a gap in the undercarriage membrane while we were out camping ... NO, not using dryer sheets or Irish Spring (even though my wife is Irish), have decided on regular traps and the 5 gallon bucket trap, will see what happens after a few days of trapping and then try to seal some obvious gaps

Nice to be here,
odie

Welcome Odie!

I have the same trailer you do. We haven't camped in a whole lot of torrential down pours ourselves (lucky so far). When you had water coming in and you weren't 'level' were you way off or just a little? I sprayed some product on my slide seals during our last trip out that is supposed to keep them 'soft / pliable' for another year, I'd inspect the seals just to make sure you don't see anything out of whack.. a few degrees tilted one way or the other and you should not have water coming in. Just my 2 cents there. Anyway welcome again... and sorry to hear about the battery theft. I was just replying to a thread here the other day where another gentleman from Canada was trying to tell me that we only have to worry about battery theft in the US. Not happy that he was wrong... but just proves it can happen to anyone, anywhere. My battery is sitting in my basement right now. I don't risk it anymore either.

We use the 100% peppermint oil, dryer sheets (change them every month) and I foam (see below) filled EVERY possible entrance under the EAGLE and under the cabinets.. working combination so far. I even foamed along the underlay and the frame under the TT.
