New Owner from Upstate NY

A big hello to everyone! We purchases a 2014 264bh about a month back, stepping up from a truck camper. Just a little difference in size.

Haven't been out in it yet, am planning a test trip in a few weeks. In the meantime I've been lurking on this site an others. Lot's of good information and hopefully I can give back some too.

Currently I've been doing a few upgrades - queen bed support wall and lifting struts, 2nd battery, waste tank flush, LEDs.

Have plans to add solar (most of our camping does not have hookups) and extra straps to water tank (since I plan on traveling with a full tank and it looks flimsy).

Welcome !!!

Our bed squeaks when we move around. sounds like the wood creaking. Will the support wall help that?

Thanks.

Possibly. We haven't tried ours out enough to see if it squeaks. Do you know what is causing the squeak?

The reason I added it was the plywood under the mattress already had a bend in it and others had issues with the screws pulling out. I did something similar to this http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=14650 , except I only added the vertical wall to support the 2x2 rails under the plywood.

ADK,

Congratulations on the trailer, and welcome to The Forum! Your "upgrades" sound like fun to me. Oh yea, they'll help improve the comfort, storage, and usefulness of the trailer, too.

Happy camping, and keep us posted.

Its not even a single sheet so I think it may be where the pieces meet. Did not notice it last year though..

Yes. Was a little nervous based on feedback from friends, but we liked the build and layout of the Jayco better. So we gave it a shot.

I went down to Albany RV when I was initially looking to buy but was turned off by the sales manager and one of his right hand man salesman so I bought mine from Johnston RV Country in Rochester. I ended up saving a few G's so it was well worth it. I see you dry camp, do you mostly camp at State Parks? The LED's are worth upgrading to as I mainly camp at the State Parks that don't have electric. I just finished this week switching all my lights over to the LED's.I also switched over to two 6 volt batteries and what a difference in battery life.

Yes, I prefer the state parks. I'm more relaxed there with the larger site space and wooded surroundings. Wife wanted to try Jellystone a few years back because one of her friends did it every year. I was resistant, but did it once. Luckily it wasn't a busy weekend and there were a couple of empty sites next to us. We have never been back.

I've replaced most of the lights with LED off of ebay. Just the dinning & halogens over the sink left. I also just ordered solar panels & now working on the finding best deal for a charge controller.

On your batteries, did you have a single 12v before?

The battery that came with my TT was a single 12 volt 100 reserve minute Interstate deep cycle battery.

I'm not a fan at all of private campgrounds. Most try to pack them in and that's not my idea of camping. Large wooded sites are a must.

Hello ADK;rs We are going to Lake Eaton this year. Have been to Eighth Lake and Rollins many times. Harris looks nice but have not been there. What are the advantages of the 2-6 volt vs the regular deep cycle 12 and were would you get one?
Thanks!

The 12 volt Marine and RV batteries are hybrid deep cell batteries not a true deep cell where as the 6 volt golfcart batteries are. The 6 volt cells are stronger and last longer than the 12 volt hybrid.
