New to Camping

Just found the forum and I'm new to camping. Purchased a 2006 Jayfeather 29Y last year and we are struggling with hauling 4 bikes. I hat to put them inside the camper and I would like to save my truck bed space for other things...looking to make a rake to mount on the A frame above the propane tanks. Has anyone make one?

Hi ttomlin,

I do not have an answer for you on the bike rack, but I would like to say welcome to the forum! I am sure someone on here has an answer for you on the bike rack question. Feel free to poast up some pics of your rig.

Hello ttomlin, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you've investigated bike racks (if you don't already own one by now) on the internet but if not take a look at - http://www.etrailer.com/landing.aspx...FUJx5Qodmm06xA as there might be something under their trailer section that will help you. I'm also sure one of our members will have some good suggestions for you, just give 'em a day or two to respond.

If nothing works ask your local Jayco dealer for help, they should have some suggestions too.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum ttomlin!!! I would like to have a rack over they propane tanks, but our tongue is already too heavy (990lbs). Here is a link for some rack options. I found it by Googling "Bike rack + tongue.

Healthi...I like those bike racks but boy are they pricey! I bet if you went to a local welder/metal fabricator they'd put something together for you for 'bout half that price....

Going to a local welder/metal fabricator is good idea for 'ttomlin' McMonk. The site I gave in my reply post isn't nearly as good as Healthi's either, just didn't see that one when I Googled bike racks for RV's. Why I didn't think of a metal fabricator.... ah, getting "older"' I guess.

YUP! Definitely expensive! I have seen modified home-made versions of the same rack on other forums in recent years, but can't find 'em on a quickie search. I'm sure with diligence, one can find the home-made pics/directions

Make sure you start a new thread in MODS when you do (don't forget the pics and directions)! I'm pretty sure it will get many 'hits' from folks trying to find a way to easily take along their bikes!
