New to Jayco

Hi, I'm not technically an owner yet but seriously considering a new Greyhawk (30x) in coming months. Really appreciate this Forum... invaluable information.

I am retired and fairly handy (bit of a motor head for a woman) who will be traveling alone and am looking for a reliable unit with good service and warranty options. I know I shouldn't buy new, but I just don't want any big expensive repair surprises on my pension.

I will be somewhat new to rv'ing but did own a living quarters horse trailer... very used to towing but tired of it and don't want to go the 5er route.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned with all the horror stories about poor service, lemons, and bad dealers keeping a unit for weeks or months. I am looking for a good reputable dealer and am within striking distance of the factory (wish I could just deal with them). I am in KY.

As info, I'd like to avoid having a toad (possibly a scooter - want to simplify) and am thinking the 30' MH will allow me to get around the tourist areas, state and federal parks, etc. pretty well? A 24' just won't give me the space I want for the amount of time I plan to be in it (basically want to become a snowbird). Know the hooking/unhooking to sightsee, hike, etc. may become a pain ;-(

I know you all own Jayco so you must like the brand, but any input would be appreciated... Thanks!

The first RV we ever camped in was a rented 29' class C. The kids were young but even with the four of us, and no slides, there was still enough room. We spent two weeks in it touring five national parks without a towed.
Since then we have had a 36' class A, 40' class A, and now the 35' class C. And now it's usually just the two of us, and most times a towed.
We prefer the separate "quarters" between the living room/kitchen, bath, and bedroom, with doors to close off the areas. This is also the first RV we've had with 3 slides as opposed to 2 and really like the additional living room/kitchen width as well.

We are somewhat different and don't see the need for buying new. With knowledge and experience, money set aside for repairs, and time, we can fix most anything that needs fixing.
They all depreciate at the same rate...And they don't build them like the used to...

Welcome!

P.S. Impeccable timing. This Greyhawk was just posted for sale, but it may be in the wrong forum, and may be moved to Classifieds once you click on it; http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f7...ale-39438.html

Newer trucks come with very useful backup systems for hitching-up the trailer and there are some very simple WDH on the market like Blue Ox. The tow vehicle/travel trailer setup process is highly dependent on the WDH you choose, in my experience.
