new to RVing, got ripped off

We just bought our first RV the owners stood there and told us that the man they bought it from had a leak but it was completely fixed. Since we got it home, we've done nothing but pull out walls and ceilings bec of water leaking from them, the entire over head cab was full of water.
We are going to spend the winter in this, they knew that but took out money and lied to our faces.

We've looked everywhere, sealed everything, we think it's old water that's been trapped in there from them not taking care of the problem.

Advice?

Have you approached the people you bought it from? You are really at the mercy of their character I think. Not sure what the law does. I'd speak with the sellers first and if they are telling you to shove off I guess I'd be getting legal council to understand whether or not I'm stuck holding the bag or not.

Sadly.....there is really nothing you can do.

You have found the damage and are repairing it before it gets worse. Hope everything ends up fine! Good luck.

Caveat Emptor -- "Let the buyer beware"

Do you have an proof the seller lied? Is it possible they truly believed the leak was completely repaired? I know it's not helpful at this point, but the seller did disclose there was a leak by your own admission -- for most of us that would be been time to walk. Leaks in RV can be extremely difficult to locate. Damage in one place may be the result of damage dozens of feet away.

At this point you are where you are. You basically have a couple choices, none that great...

1) If you can prove the seller lied and intentionally misrepresented the condition of the RV sue them. Depending on the $ involved it could be low cost/low hassle smaller claims court or civil court.

2) suck it up, fix the RV and enjoy it as planned.

3) Honestly sell to someone who has the skills and motivation to do option two, then you move on.

I was once told life's lessons are expensive, important lessons are very expensive. It looks like you are getting a little bit of education. Hopefully this will help you in the future and you can share your experience to save others the cost and frustration.
