New to the Forum

Hello

Obviously I'm new to the forum but have been RV'ing for 25+ yrs, only 3 with a Jayco (5th wheel). I'm a retired railroad conductor and am enjoying every minute of doing what I want, when I want, when I can afford it that is.

Looking forward to talking to many of you on RV issues and good places to visit.

Pete

Welcome to the forum R R Conductor. We are big railroad fans! Our idea of a good time is an RV trip, and if we can find train to ride, so much the better!

Every kids dream job...at least when I was a kid watching the trains go by! We lived in Europe for a short time and the conductors on the trains were always our favourite people - our children always chatted them up (the language never mattered) and they were always keen to share a tip or two on the next stop...

So - welcome!

Welcome RR Conductor,
Curious question, have you seen The Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnez? In that film, Dezi is told to think of his car and trailer as 30 foot train. Any truth to that?

Sorry but no, can't say I've seen that one.

Well it was a fun job, up to a point. When you're working a night shift in the middle of winter there are times when you ask yourself what in the world possessed you to hire on the railroad. But, all in all it was a good job, can't say I'd want to do it all over again in this day and time. Kids can make a day out there worthwhile though, most seemed to beam when I'd take 'em up on the engine (cab) and let the engineer explain things, then let them pull on the whistle cord a couple of times.

What a great screen name, welcome to the group RR Conductor! I sold telecom equipment to BNSF railway for years and really admire what it takes for you guys to do what you do on the railways.

Welcome to the forum Pete. Glad to have you. I've been away from the group for awhile but plan to fix that.

Looking forward to your posts. As long as you have been RVing you will be an asset I'm sure.

Thanks for joining.

Thanks Patrick, we didn't do much other than ride the rails from point A to point B and back... not in one day mind you.

Jim, thanks for the kind words, I'm no expert by any means but have picked up and point or two along the way. Looking forward to conversing with you and everyone of the forum as time goes by.

Hi Pete and welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum! I love to ride the Amtrak. My brother works for Amtrak in Wash DC. He gave us an insightful tour of Union Station. Didn't get to go up in the engine though. Now that would have been neat!

Hey I'm a newbie here-- we have a JayFlight-- 20' er
It's our 3rd trailer-- started out with a Jayco tent-trailer-- then went to a Terry 25 Bunk house-- it was a pile of junk. So three years ago we went back to Jayco. I love the craftsmanship on it. The floor plan is nice too.

My wife and I are teachers so we usually hitch it up and travel the whole summer.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum JPBeck! I am also a retired teacher. Loved having Summers off with our kids. We camped all across the lower 48 while they went through their middle school years. We hope to do so with our older two granddaughters when they hit that age in a couple of years
