New to Travel Trailers

Greetings! I am the proud new owner of a Jayco Jay flight slx 267 BHSW. We are out for the first time this week. OMG, there is so much that I need to learn! At this point, can't even figure out how to turn the heater or hot water on!! You Tube has had a lot of great information. When I listen to the different people who are out there making videos about the trailer, I remember what I was told when I bought the trailer. Just so much information to remember at once. I've read the owner's manual's but still trying to figure things out. I'll get there, it will just take time. I hope I don't but you guys too much with questions, but know, I appreciate any suggestions you can provide!

Congratulations! on the new trailer! Yeah, all the new info can be a little overwhelming! Although it's pretty generic (and may be confusing), best is to have your owners' manual handy and just take your time when you set up/tear down; and especially when driving and parking. When we try to rush things is when we end up screwing things up. (Just take a look at the "My most bone-headed moment" posts.

Feel free to ask the good folks here or at your campground for help when you need it. My experience is that folks are more than happy to lend assistance to a fellow camper. Especially the folks on the JOF!

Enjoy the learning curve!

And Happy Camping!

Welcome from South Carolina! You will be fine. Just take things on step at a time. We all felt the same way when we went through it the first time. You'll find a lot of good info here. I agree, don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for help from others.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

One of the things most ask for are tips on how to do things, if you want to learn things not to do check out our

What's your most Boneheaded RV Moment thread. It may keep you from doing one of those things.

Greetings! Congratulations on the Jay Flight and welcome to the forum.

You mentioned not knowing how to turn on the heater or water heater. Do you have those figured out now?

I had trouble with my hot water and getting the fridge on gas. I was able to get the stove lit and that pulled the air out of the lines so you may try to light that first.

Well when i first bought mine i knew everything about it the first time out because i (LISTENED TO MY SALESMAN!)

There is quite a bit to remember for sure. What we did was make a checklist and then check things off as they are done.

One list for arriving and one list for departing.

Sure does help you from forgetting things. Not that i have every forgot anything myself but i have heard about others doing it.
