New to us Park Model

Hi Everyone!

About to complete the process of purchasing a 2010 Jay Flight Bungalow M-40 FER on a year round site in an RV park less than two hours from us. It's in great overall shape. The wife and I stumbled upon this while renting a cabin in the same park. Love the location and the RV.

This will be my first RV. My Dad had a couple motorhomes years ago that I helped look after so I'm not a complete noob but I have a healthy learning curve ahead.

Looking forward to gaining information and guidance from the community here. The first thing I'll be looking for is suggestions on insurance. Apparently, park models present certain challenges in the insurance industry.

See ya around the forum!

Check with the Good Sam Club for your insurance.

Check out Good Sam insurance. One major benefit is they allow you to put the trailer in storage, saving on collision (if you have it). My insurance agent changed to GS from his company when he checked out their coverage.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of wonderful people here who have helped us and I am sure they will help you as well with any questions you may have. We have insurance with Progressive and are very happy with them.

Thanks ifallsguy for the suggestion of Good Sam for insurance. I have quotes so far from Progressive and Foremost but will reach out to Good Sam.

Thanks jkaras7. I've received a quote from Progressive and Foremost thus far but still looking for more. I like options.

cainer, you are welcome. We went with Progressive because they are associated with USAA, our auto insurance company for the past 45 years. Started with USAA when I went on active duty in 1971 and kept them throughout my career and in retirement. They have both been outstanding.

jkaras7--

Firstly, thank you for your service. I know USAA is the top dog in the insurance industry. I have Amica (#2 dog) for home, auto and umbrella. They don't write RV policies. At least not what I'm buying. What I'm finding is there are very few underwriting agencies for what is considered a "Park or Destination" type of trailer. Foremost is used by some of the name-brand agencies and Progressive for others. I'm attracted to Progressive as it's less expensive and the coverage explanation is clearer and more in-line with what I'm looking for. I can always change to someone else later if necessary.

After contacting 3-4 different insurers I ended up going with Foremost. Seemed to be a good fit for what we have, the coverage we need and the price point was solid.

Thanks for all the feedback!
