New torsion axle for 1991 Jayco 1006 Deluxe

New to the forum!!

I am having a problem with the axle on my 1991 Jayco 1006 Deluxe pop up.

I had a wheel bearing blow, come to find out the race essentially welded itself to the spindle. Of course I just cant remove the spindle so looking at a new axle. Also, the arm of the axle wont clear one of the bolts so I cant take the axle off without cutting a bolt. To be honest, I don't even know where to start in regards to replacing the axle. I cant find anything on which axle it is, and I cannot remove without cutting a bolt. I understand I can call Jayco or Dexter, but I have zero information on which axle I have. I just know its a torsion axle on my 91' jayco 1006 deluxe Please help! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the JOF.

I know that using the VIN#, Jayco can provide information regarding axles etc. But I don't know how many years back they have access to. You could try calling Jayco first, having your vin# in hand, and see what they can tell you.

Jayco doesn't keep track of axle numbers. Look on the axle beam and find the serial number and talk to Dexter axle. Have the GVWR; Jayco model and year handy.

Just find the sn# on the axle beam and talk directly to Dexter Axle.
Have the Jayco Model # and GVWR handy when calling them.

Thanks for all the help. The only info I could get off the axle was a littleMetal band that reads:


Philips/Dexter Axle 2000 lbs cap


I have the VIN# as well and will be calling Dexter first thing with everything I have.
