Newbie Jayco Tent trailer owners

WE bought our first Jayco Jay Series 1206. We hope it works out for us. Anybody have any comments, I'd be glad to listen. My wife is Deaf and loves to go camping.

We recently moved from a PUP to a Jayco travel trailer. We camped in the PUP for 9 years and made lot of memories. I've got a couple things that could help you:
  1. Read the manual. Know exactly what order to put roof up, stabilizers down, etc. so you don't damage anything. Know the reverse procedure for popping down. Know how to get water in, turn on the hot water heater, furnace, etc.
  2. If you can get a BAL Leveler for the low side tire and a BAL single tire locking chock for the other side tire, you have one of the easiest ways to level and get your trailer rock solid.
  3. I noticed your fridge isn't accessible with the top down. Ours wasn't either. We would empty our fridge at the end of the trip, put anything remaining in our cooler (fridge was never big enough) and I'd wipe it out and leave the door in the storage position. This and thought out packign for the trip home saved us from having to fully pop up when we got home. We typically just raised the roof a stitch so we could open the door, and hauled out the stuff we needed to take out. Stuff we could crawl part way in to get out.

It's late for me, so those are just a few things that came to mind that made our life a lot easier.

Glad to hear your wife loves to camp. I'm sure you'll be fine. We had tons of fun with our PUP!

Lots of helpful folks here so be sure to post back after (or during!) your first trip if you have questions.
