Picked up our 2013 White Hawk 28DSBH last weekend. Very excited to take it on its maiden voyage in March during spring break. Right now it’s sitting under cover at the storage yard, winterized. I’m itchen’ to take it out.
Not new to RVing. Owned a 2001 Adventurer truck camper. Had a kid. Upgraded to a 2008 Prowler 250CKS (very nice trailer) but Jayco’s quality slaps Fleetwood in the face. I consider the White Hawk an upgrade in many ways. Also RVed since I was a kid and have been a park ranger – I’m always checking out rigs looking for the best features and quality.
The story behind our new camper is likely similar to other stories – we needed repairs on our old trailer and our family is growing. I took the old camper to the Oregon coast MLK weekend. Got to the site and started to unpack, noticed a crack in the fiberglass front end camp. ****, fiberglass repaid bill in my future. Connected the city water, water heater poured water inside and outside. No sign of cracked hoses or loose fixtures – figured despite my best effort to drain the water heater before winter, she froze and cracked. I bypassed the water heater and we were on cold water the rest of the trip. On the way home, we got to Corvallis and just as we hit 99, I had the idea, “Why not check out what Junction City has rather than waiting until our local repair shop is open in Salem.” With the repairs needed above plus the other little things to-do on my list such as repair our outside shower, fix a slow leak under the shower I can’t get to, and a few other issues beyond my skill, I figured the cash I put into repairs could also go into a new rig. Besides, our kids, 6 and 2, are growing like weeds. We needed bunk beds.
Upgrades I’ve performed/got so far:- Added propane tank gauges (from my old trailer).

- Labeled all the light switches inside the monitor cabinet panel.
- Purchased plastic storage tubs to fit every nook and cranny.
- Affixed battery powered lights to front driver side storage and rear storage under the bunk.
- Added battery operated light just inside the front door.
- Added a paper towel holder.
- Added extending shower curtain rod, heavy vinyl curtain, curtain rings with rollers.
- Oxygenix shower head.
- Various coat/towel racks (command strips)
- Added range cover.
Upgrades I plan to perform/get in the near future:- Battery quick disconnect (from my old trailer).
- Add solar battery maintainer (from my old trailer).
- Add LED lighting under the awning (so I can have lighting even with awning closed).
- Create secure traveling straps for satellite dish receiver.
- Add pistons to the bed storage hatch.
- Add Blu-ray player.
- Maybe upgrade bathroom “propeller” fan.
