Saying Hi

Just wanted to tell everyone hi. We just bought our first camper and tow vehicle. I am from a camping family but this is all new to my wife. We bought a 2015 Jayco 24RDB and have been out on two small camping trips (with another one planned for this month) to test out the camper and allow my wife to get use to this new adventure. Hopefully this will grow into some nice long cross country trips. She seems to like it and has had fun buying things to make the camper feel like home to her.

My DH had never camped before we married. Only hotels for him. I talked him into a PUP back in 2002 at a RV show. We only had 4 Runner at the time so a PUP was a good fit. We ended up trading the 4Runner for a Sequoia and traveled over 65000 miles with the PUP in tow. He loved having our home behind us. After almost 10 yrs he wanted to trade up to a hard side which we did.

Our DD is on a Lacrosse travel team so we travel with the TT and camp nearby. We love having our own creature comforts and a comfortable place for our dogs.

My DH changed his idea of camping after I showed him how much fun and relaxing it can be. I was able to show him and our DD sites I was shown by my parents. We have camped in over 40 states. We can't wait until we retire and have more time to travel.

It has been great adventure.

One of the big selling points to get a camper was the fact that it is ours, our bed, our bathroom, our linens, etc. The last few hotels we stayed in were a little dirty, even though they were the better hotels, so that helped sell the idea of a camper as well. She does like the idea that at the end of the day we are in our own extended home. Plus we don't have to worry about our little dog, she is at home in the camper and we don't have to worry about staying in pet friendly hotels.

We are now retired so this is our retirement gift, mainly my retirement gift, so we can start traveling more and not have to worry about hotels.

I use forums a lot as a way to get better at my special interest, like restoring a 65 GTO, so I will probably be on here every chance I can doing research and learning. So far I am very impressed with how nice people are.
