Toilet drainage issue

I recently bought a 2008 Jayco Eagle TT. Love it!! My problem is when I dump I cannot get all the waste to empty. When I open the toilet to put in chemicals I can still see toilet paper. I have hooked up a garden hose and used the inside sprayer. That didn't work. So i dumped 3 five gal. buckets of water directly into the toilet and it still did not wash it away. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong or why this is happening?

Sounds like the prior owners used industrial strength TP; like everything else it'll eventually degrade.

Are you making sure the tank is almost totally full before you dump? Doing that will wash out a lot of gunk.

Sounds like you got a poo pyramid, not enough water in tank when taking a #2.. I personally fill my tank 1/4 full at the start of my trip to make sure there is enough water in it to break things down..and always make sure your tank is atleast 3/4 full when dumping so you have enough head pressure to get the solids out..

There are three common household items that will help break down a hardened "poo/paper mound": Borax, Calgon, and laundry baking soda. You might try pouring a cup of one of these into the toilet, then filling the toilet with warm water. Let it sit for a couple of days, then drain and rinse. One or two applications should do the trick.

The baking soda also works well to clean the stain and bad taste out of a Thermos bottle. And unlike bleach, it won't ruin the seal.

If you can, try filling the black tank with water and drive around for a bit. That will help break things up. You might also have a bit of a clog where the toilet empties into the tank. For that, we use a stick. I have found that back flushing can also loosen things up.

It is unreal how much "stuff" you get out after dumping if you use your black tank wash connection (if you have one). Even taking all precautions, making sure tank is full, using correct paper etc, you will get "stuff" out well after it appears empty. It is much more difficult to remove a build up once it begins, so, back wash each time you dump is your best insurance. Good Luck !
