Took the plunge

Hi, thanks for having us to this forum. Our family just purchased a 28BHBE Elite a few weeks ago in anticipation of the camping season. Albeit a short one here in Canada. We're not new to camping, but definitely new to Travel Trailers. We chose Jayco for the impressive use of space and 'standard' features in comparison to other brands. We've been lurking here on the forums for awhile now, and decided to join the community. Thanks for having us and we'll see you around the campfire!

Congratulations on the new TT and welcome to The Forum! I, also, lurked around for a while before joining about a year ago. Smartest thing I've done since purchasing my Jayco. You'll find (as I did) lots of great people who are always on hand with an answer for every question. Hope you enjoy both your trailer and the JOF.

Welcome. I lurked for a while as well.. Purchased a 2015 28BHBE Elite in August. Was only able to get out once . But it was a great trip to Wells Gray Provincial park in BC Interior. Trailer as delivered weighed in at 7189 lbs. It did not take long for it to tip the local Comercial Transport Scale at 8800 lbs. Remember to scale it on your first adventure.

Congrats on the new TT. We looked long and hard at that model, ended up with one just slightly different (WH 28BHKS). The large shower on both is what sold us on going a bit bigger. I bet you'll love it!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Jayco! I admit that I too was a lurker here on the forum for some time before we ordered a Jay Flight last month. Happy camping!

We've looked at many models over 2 years and this is the one that just felt right. I'm 6 '1" and having a useable shower is great. No more midget baths for me!

Noticing quite a few have the same trailer as we do! Any downfalls to report? Anything we should be wary of?

We haven't had any problems with ours at all...other than things that I caused. For example; we purchased in February '14 and want to break in the camper, so we went to Beaver Bend up in OK for the 3 day weekend. The TT had been winterized prior to going by dealer, so we went and had a great time. I took TT to storage and then we went down to the TX Hill Country (Fredricksburg) about a month later for kids Spring Break (with the In-Laws to boot)... I hooked up the water and turned it on...water was pouring out in the bathroom everywhere!! Well during that month in storage we had a freeze and I said it'll be fine!! The toilet flushing mechanism failed due to water freezing and causing the plastic to split. Luckily the KOA down the road had the exact part in stock and I replaced. I learned a VALUABLE lesson! But other than that, I've had no issues with ours. Couldn't be happier...I would definitely purchase another Jayco product...Actually my dream would be to have the 375BHFS!!

Enjoy - Dan

On our trailer we found that the fresh water tanks will siphon empty through the overflows when travelling. A couple shutoff valves on the overflow lines takes care of that. Nothing else to report. Lots of space for the grandchildren to grow into. Our granddaughter loves the top bunk.
