Cool Woods, here we come!

After 40 + years of tent camping (and we camp alot), DW and I moved up to life in a popup camper. Big improvement! Absolutely nothing against popups, but I ain't getting any younger, so 2 weeks ago we sold the popup and bought a new Jayco Swift 264 BH. Tow weight limits were going to be pretty close with our 2003 Tundra (4.7 liter) but we figured it would work. Nope. IMO, not enough truck. Sold tundra and bought the F250. Much better! Due to some really foul weather, etc we haven't camped yet, but in a few days will be heading out for 2 weeks to do some fishing and get used to our new camper. Very much looking forward to it. Also looking forward to hanging out on this forum.

After we beefed up our converter/charger to smart mode charging, added more batteries, changed over to LED lights, and purchased a 2KW generator we can stay out a very long time in the woods.

Our game plane is have enough AHs capacity to run all the 120VAC items we want from our 600WATT PSW Inverter and all of the 12VDC items from direct connected to the battery and plan so our batteries drop back to around 12.0VDC by 8AM each morning. Then we connect our trailer shore power cable to the 2KW generator and recharge the batteries back up to their 90% charge state in as little as three hours of generator run time. This allows us to do all of this all over again for the next day/night camping off the power grid.

The three hour generator run time usually fits into the usual generator run time restrictions we always run into camping here on the East side of the US.

Works great for us camping out in the woods for a good two weeks or so before we have to charge back our batteries to their 100% charge state to refresh them back to normal.

We too started out in the 50s tent camping and finally got up to the POPUP five to six years ago. Probably will ride it out now with the off-road POPUP as we are in our 70s now...

Be sure to drag that up to Wichita Mtns Wild Life Refuge near medicine Park OKLA... That setup will look good sitting in Doris Camp...
