Duplicate Posts

I'm thinking that moderators want to be notified about duplicate posts because of the confusion they cause and to merge replies into one thread. I was about to use the "Report Post" icon to make such a notification, but did not when I read "Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts." My suggestion would be to add "Duplicate Post" to that statement, if such notification is desired by the mods.

Yes we do like to be notified about duplicate threads and posts. Will pass the suggestion on to admin.

I have had a rash of duplicate posts over on the RV NET of late. I still haven't figured out what I have done to cause this. I have had a duplicate here on a few ocassions.

One thing I do alot of it seems is make corrections a couple of times after I re-read what I had just posted. On the RV NET we can make edits forever I guess but on JAYCO NET the edits privilege goes away after a short time period... For some reason my computer or profile setup has done away with auto spelling correct. I can still use auto correct but have to turn it on each time I want to use. The way it is I see I miss spell a few words and then do a EDIT to correct the bad spelling.

This auto spell check is not working anywhere on my computer unless I open it up each time to check spelling so it isn't a JAYCO setting I have undone.

I kinda like this being open to edit as this is really useful to make changes to your TITLE when a post question has been answered...

When I make a duplicate thread entry I use edit to erase everything and add only the word DUPLICATE...

I am guessing the MODs will see this and do away with the duplicate entry.

Roy, the reason there is a time limit on editing is that a thread could be altered days or weeks later to the point where other posts seemingly make no sense, as they had responded to the unaltered post(s).

Some duplicate threads or posts are never removed by the mods simply because we did not see them or they were not reported.

sask934 - I too am using firefox and this may have gone away or maybe needs reset as I think firefox has been updated recently... I just checked and I am using version 28.0 but I know for sure this was only recently (days ago) updated. The missing spell check happened with Version 27.0

I really havent gone back to IE to see if spell check is owrking there or not...

Guess I need to look at some FIREFOX settings...
