Starting a new forum

I have been posting with another group on Facebook but I would like to see the group post on a forum similar to this one. I have no idea where to start or what developing a format like this entails. Can anyone help me get in touch with the right people or website to find out more?

This is a vBulletin board but has been heavily customized with additional software products. You would need a software licence, a host and some patience. That said, imo the real reason a forum is successful is the memberships passion for the topic and an awesome site team. We have both here

Have you considered a Google Group? It's not as powerful as the vBulliten system but it's super easy to setup. Go to http://groups.google.com.
