Ya shoulda read the manual first!
It says clearly to stay at your PC when following the procedure.
These n00bs and their frostbite. Sheesh!

I was playing on the joke.
I'm a computer professional and I have been abusing users for over 30 years.
Running around OUSTIDE trying to flash the neighbors when most PC's have a built-in camera so you can flash The Whole Internet is a N00B mistake!
So press the button for the built in cup holder and sit back read the manual.

Me too, but for 29. Hate to talk about that, though. Makes me feel RFO (Real _ Old).
mike837go says he's a computer professional. Wonder if he was ever a "bit flipper"? I did my first bit flipping on a GE (General Electric) 225 computer back in 1967.
I just want to know if yardvarks are those animals with a long snout and a long, sticky tongue that looks like a thick spaghetti noodle that like to eat ants.

Never used switches w/strobe for data input. Back when REAL MEN like Admiral Hopper were the only ones qualified to use such things?
I came into the scene too late for vacuum tube computers or even all transistor processers.
My first computer had a hex keyboard and 12x20 video out.
Got my feet wet in the microcomputer world: Sol 20, C/PM, Wordstar and Qume printers. Back when 16K RAM was a big deal and double-density 8" floppies held 256KB.

I also work for a software company as a developer but began my career many years back as a civil engineer. Some days I do pause in amazement when considering my first computational device was a K&E slide rule.
A few years ago I was in a much younger coworker's office, noticed a slide rule on the bookshelf and picked it up. He said he saw it at the flea market and thought it was really cool. As I began putting it through its paces he blurted out, "You actually know how to use that!?!"

Back in the day, I was taking some night courses in electronics and FORTRAN at a community college. Of course they had electronic, 4-function calculators in the display case next to the slide rules. A major difference was that the very good slide rules were chained to to the display case but the calculators were not!

I was a developer for a big part of my career, not now but still in the biz. From time to time I get my calculator out and convert 4 decimal to octal and hex just to see if they've changed.

Oops, sorry yardvarkers. I didn't intend for your thread to get hijacked. If anyone wants to continue talking about the "good old days" of computing, start a thread over in the Campfire Chat forum and we can continue our conversation there.

Yes! One of my heroes.
And absolute, unmitigated proof that gender is irrelevant when it comes to getting the job done.
