Yes ! Retired in 2009 , after 30 years of corp. burnout. Really enjoying every day now. Do it as soon as you can, "this ain't no rehearsal ".

Retired is a state of mind more than one of reality. I know a hippy that retired when he was 10 years old, lives in a cave answers to no man, eats things I won't serve my dog. I have substantially higher standards, still have to put my daughter through college, keep my house maintained, finance my 2 dozen hobbies, take my wife out to dinner. I don't know what retiring means. The goal is geographical and financial independence, not 'retirement', there will always be a new TV or camper on your horizon, something to work for, at some level. "retirement" frankly doesn't exist. Just my humble opinion.

Retired Texas NG - Army

Retired in 2013 from the Army, 34 years total Guard and Active Duty.

Tired EMS flying and then Quality control for a body shop. Neither were a good fit.

Downsized the house and now life is GOOD! We try to camp 7-14 days a month.

We have been retired since 2006. That's after 38 years in the school house.

Absolutely, six years this past May. Have not been back to the department since my last day of employment. Way too busy doing things I want to do.
