Brrr, it hit - 16°f last night

I grew up in Montana and married a Florida gal. I thickened her bloodfor 8 years and we spent a year an Arkansas and mine must have thinned out.

I had to screen shot this when the dog wanted out this morning. Take a look at the feels like.

Cold is cold. I've been in - 50 with a wind. Bitter cold. It is all unpleasant.

We are experiencing lows of 50 and highs of 70.

The lows were in the 40's last week and it was cold!

The DW insisted we light the fireplace and put the flannel sheets on the bed.

Oooooooooooof! It hit -4*F today up here in Fort Collins. I grew up in WI and the coldest I've ever been in was -40*F with -60*F wind chill. About all I can remember is the physical pain of being outside.

That *hurt*.

A week ago we were in the 50's. A month sgo we didn't need the heated hose. We are supposed to have at least a week of this.

I just plugged the pickup in, ran out with the dog for less than 5 minutes and my fingers hurt like pconroy said. It does not take long.

The trees still have most of their leaves.

We will be picking the oranges in a few weeks.

Out on a mountain bike ride this afternoon was sweating bullets.

40 right now and the leaves just dropped so we could get the Christmas lights up. I knew there was a reason I moved south.

Yup... F that! The coldest I remember is -6 for a football game. We were properly dressed and "hydrated", so it wasn't that bad. We hit 24 degrees last night, which is pretty cold in my book. The wood stove was cranking last night, the kids and I are stoking the coals and getting it going again today.

I know that Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and the Dakota's are beautiful... but I've pretty much decided that those are summer time destinations!

You can always put more on when it's cold outside but only take off so much when it's hot.

We only see the rattlesnakes when the come out of hibernation mid-March thru mid-October. And if next year is anything like this year by mid-March with temps approaching 90 during the day it's almost too uncomfortable to be out on the desert mountains in the heat of the day (for humans).
