Kind of what I meant by worse. Growing up on the back of a shrimp trawler and working in fish houses, ain't much worse in smells and other stuff.

Many areas have laws which require screw in fittings. So sewer gas doesn't escape. They were not trying to rip you off for a hose fitting.

Oh I don't think they were trying to rip me off. It was just pointed out to me as I was from another state. I already had one though.

When things are bad ... keep in mind they can always be worse ... like for Coolidge Winesett.

I have not (yet) seen anyone at a campsite drain their tanks openly as described in some of these posts. I have to admit, we stay at decent campgrounds, and they are patrolled often by the camp rangers.
On the other hand, I've seen smokers who continue to toss their nasty cigarette butts down on the ground, which to me is the same as littering with trash, or dumping sewage.

I agree on cigarettes butts on the ground in sites and everywhere else in the park: roadways, walkways, hiking trails, in the shower and restroom stalls and of course fire rings. Any and everything that is put in a fire ring suddenly becomes invisible. Why would anyone go to the trouble to take a bag of garbage to the dumpster on their way out when they can just leave it in the fire ring.

But but but...I scrub my hands and fingernails when done with a small amount of bleach and other strong soap.
I've gotten to where I set up my hand-washing station at the outside shower at the beginning of the process. I don't typically wear gloves either, so washing is necessary and I'll do it 2-3 times before I get moved on to something else.

Last night over the scanner someone called the police for someone dumping their 5er's black tank into the storm water drain in the middle of the street... What the heck is wrong with people anymore?

Got to the dump station at a small state park after someone had done the hose less dump and run. Got the ranger so he would know it was not me. He commented to the other ranger "Our favorite camper dumped last night" wonder if he'll be allowed back?
