disgusted in a fellow camper

Was emptying the tanks in preparation for our trip home today. While finishing up a camper pulled into the stall next to me. I thought it was kind of weird that he pulled forward then backed up angling it so that his valve was almost directly over the drain. While shaking the drain line a heard an extreme gush of water followed by.... the smell.

This guy emptied his tanks straight into the drain without a hose while spraying it with water from a safe distance. I normally keep my mouth shut, but found myself giving into my emotions by calling him out and saying " You need to get a hose! That's disgusting! "

Was I out of line in saying something? Is this a normal practice?

No, this is not normal and if caught by anyone from the CG staff, would be told their not welcome back. These are the types of jerks who ruin it for all of us.

Absolutely no excuse for not having a dump hose and it is absolutely not a normal practice. Some folks are just ignorant and they must be taught proper procedures. Kudos for you for saying something to that jerk!

same guy?

I had a friend describe being next in line at a dump station and watch a guy do this. It was very hot out and she said that the smell was horrible. Either this guy gets around a lot or more than one person is a moron.

I would have taken the time and got his tag number of the TV and let the front office know. There is only one excuse for that kind of behavior and that is LACK OF RESPECT.

I hope he at least took the time to flush the area with fresh water when he was done But my guess is he just got in and drove away.

You did the right Thing, it is disgusting and may even be illegal!

A few years ago I was dumping my blue boy at a Florida SP dump station. A guy in a old MH pulled into the lane next to me, positioned his black drain near the dump hole and let her fly. All over the pavement, slab etc. He then proceeded to pull out and went into a camp site.
I went to a host, who got a ranger over to look at it. He asked me to show him where the guy was.

We rode over in his golf cart and he evicted him on the spot. Then thanked me and told me he would have to get the fire dept over to hose the pad off.

I saw a similar thing a couple of years ago. A large Class A pulled up to the dump and positioned his tank discharge "close to the correct spot" and obviously had the cap off of his discharge pipe. He also had remote valves it seems because "here it comes". All over everywhere and some of it even hit the drain, but the cap on the dump was closed so absolutely nothing went where it was supposed to. He then rinsed with his gray tank and drove off with dripping going on. I couldn't get his tag number since I was too far back in line. I did walk up and help others hose off the mess.

I hope he ran under a low over pass on his way.

I had an experience this weekend not gross but annoying. While eating dinner the guy across from us was setting up. He used an cordless impact driver to put down his stabilizers. No exaggeration, he spent ten minutes at each corner with the thing clicking and clanking that could be heard a mile away. I really didn't understand it at all what he was trying to accomplish..

I guess I just don't understand where people get the idea that this is okay? Do they not see other RVers dumping their tanks and think to themselves "hey, maybe I should be using a hose?" or "perhaps one of these fine people will help me, maybe even let me borrow a hose?"

How could they not know they are doing something wrong? Even worse, if they know they're doing wrong, how do they live with themselves?

I know for me personally, I leave my site and any facilities I use cleaner than when I show up; it's just how I am. I don't expect everyone to be like that, but I do expect SOME level of respect for others, even if it's not to the lengths I go, but SOMETHING.

Me neither. But I can say I am not surprised that there are too many inconsiderate jerks out there.

Just look at the amount of trash carelessly tossed out of car windows or just dropped in parks.

Most of The Public are so stinking clueless. Makes me want to personally issue them a Darwin Award!

I've not seen anything that bad before, but one time I was dumping my tote, and the hose slipped out of the dump hole. I made a mess, but I spent time cleaning it up before I drove away.
