Guitar Amp experts

I found this item on E-bay and was taken back by the amount wanted for it. Am I missing something? Can this thing be worth that amount of money? Was these amps not the precursor to the "Kay" and "Silvertone" brands?

Just puzzled

Tube type amps have made a resurgence in popularity in some crowds. Parts are in short supply and many tubes are no longer available. otoh - it's e-bay..... caveat emptor

Friend of mine built his own tube amp completely. They are really popular right now. He spends a lot of time staling old hardware at thrift shops.

There are some interesting imports available. I stumbled onto this and cracked up reading the seller description. Google translate fail.

Yes, I know the price of older tube amps have soared in recent years. A 60 watt Fender Musicmaster Base Amp that one could purchase a few years ago for $75.00 now are bring $500.00. And I had one until I gave it to my daughter several years ago.

Well, I do see it when I visit her, and each time tell her. "Don't give it away, it is now valuable."

I have several tube amps. The problem today is finding good tubes. I have a good matched set in my Ampeg bass head but it took buying a few extra to get a good set of pre-amp tubes.

Personally speaking, todays tube amps are far better than the old ones and I would never consider a restore on one of those old ones.

The Mesa Boogie Subway rocket for guitar and the Ampeg SVT for bass is all anyone could ask for in tube amps and you can buy them new today.
