Hittin' the Road for Two Months... Mid-West or Bust :)
Well, we get to take off 9am sharp from the West Coast. For the first time, we get to see how our tt performs in 105 degree weather! The fridge and a/c in our previous tt failed miserably in extremely hot weather.... I have faith that both will exceed our wishes in the Jayco. We plan to overnight in Laughlin, Nv for two nights on our trip East.

If you are expecting temperatures of 105 the Jayco A/C may take hours to cool your trailer off after a long day of traveling. We stopped in Tuscon, Arizona last year at the end of a long day and it took 3-4 hours for the trailer to cool down. Then we got smart--we used wooden clothespins to hold bath towels over the small windows and light blankets or a felt-backed plastic table cloth over the large windows. We found this really helped insulate the interior from the radiant heat coming through the windows as we traveled. Once we arrived and got the trailer cooled down we removed the towels/blanket/table cloth.

Thanks for the suggestions Sam. We upgraded our a/c to the 15k. We have those day/night type shades that are actually just 'night' shades. Keeping them closed might do the same  , we'll give it a try anyhow. We will probably get there around 3pm. It will definitely be a test to see how everything cools off! Of course, we'll let everyone know how it goes!

It was 102 degrees when we got to Bullhead City, AZ (across the river from Laughlin). The inside of the tt was 91 degrees when we pulled into camp. Good news is that the 15000 btu a/c has done very well cooling down the tt. It's dropped down to 85 after half an hour. Also, the fridge is doing perfect staying cool. We have it at the #4 setting. Gawd I love our Jayco in hot weather!

We're staying East of Albuquerque currently. After years of traveling I-40, we finally took the tram to the top of Sandia Peak (years ago, we took the lift with our bikes and rode down the East side of the mountain). http://www.sandiapeak.com/ That tram is kewl; feels like you are going almost vertical when you leave the top! Weird thing was, it was scary going up, but not so descending. If you ever travel through Albuquerque, I would recommend the tram

Actually I've toyed with the idea of creating a "silly RV" photo for some time.
It's a picture of a man bent over looking down the "wrong" end of a RV flex sewer hose wondering why there is nothing coming out, and in the background the wife is pulling on a "T" handle while asking "This One ??" ...
I'd attempt this on my own but I don't trust the wife.

Halstead Kansas was fun but way too hot! We did at least enjoy a bike ride early one morning in Newton Kansas. Pretty nice little bike trail along a canal. Here is a pic of our site near the little lake on the property we stayed and one by the nature trail.

LOL... I think we need to start a thread in the Humor forum for silly/funny pics/videos! Although not necessarily rv related, I do have a youtube video Don uploaded that was taken on one of our trips back to Milwaukee. I will try to post tomorrow

So anyone that takes the route that from I-40 north through panhandle's of Texas/Oklahoma and then NE through Kansas well up into Iowa knows that you see about 15 hours of corn!!!! We also saw this kewl cowboy standing at the side of the road in Iowa (I thought cowboys only grew this big in Texas!)... and fyi.. we don't get these kinda cloud formations where I come from!

Having lived in Illinois all my life, I refer to such cloud formations as "Simpson Skies" ...
Its a lovely site on a less-humid day. I traveled the I-40 to Amarillo to see a daughter.
Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Indiana are the top five corn producers in the states. (I believe in that order)
