Home Base/Winter Site

Here are some pictures of my home base/winter site. This is located in central Alabama. There isn't much nice scenery here, but a relative owns the property and the price is "right".

Picture #1: The first day getting set up after bringing my new Designer "home". This was in August 2010. Note my electric meter isn't installed yet.

Picture #2: After a bit of site improvement (big truck full of gravel). Thank goodness for a nephew with a small tractor.

Picture #3: Home Sweet Home

Picture #4: The same nephew had a propane tank he wasn't using. The same tractor/loader deposited it here for my winter use. This is much easier than hauling 30 lb tanks around.

Nice homebase, Ed. Looks like there might be room for mine there if I was to stop by someday!

Very nice. So did you run septic out there as well? I see the hose in the background, but cant see where it goes. Looks like you have just about everything else - except maybe a fire ring and one of those built in grills

How cold does it get there in winter? Looks like a nice quiet spot.

Crabman, Come on down. We will find room.

tafische, The slinky goes into the city sewer. Nothing half way around here!!! I do have a gas grill that hangs on the side of the trailer, but I hadn't used it when I took these pictures. I use it a lot now. Fire Ring? Small town, just build a fire where ever you want.

norty1, The coldest I remember this past winter was 13 degrees. I was nice and warm and never had any issues with frozen pipes. I just kept my fresh water tank full and stored the hose. When I ran out of water I would hook the hose back up and fill up again. My fresh water would last about 2-2.5 weeks which is just about the same as my black tank needing to be emptied. So I would just do both. I had to fill the propane tank once in January and it has 40% in it right now which is left over from the January fill. I am getting it topped off this week since the company has a fall early bird special and a significant price reduction. I will be leaving here Wednesday for the Petite Le Mans at Road Atlanta for the weekend returning Sunday. I will hook up the external propane tank sometime after I return.

Then I can sit back and wait until spring when I had back to Florida for a host position.
