We dodged the storm this time. We NEVER plan to be at home during a hurricane if it comes within 200 miles of us. We had already made planes to drive inland with the jayco and valuables, until the storm blew past. We have done that successfully for a good many storms. I was not retired yet when Hugo came thru here and lost my tt in my back yard.

Never again!!

We will be at our SIL and daughters house.... only a few miles from our house but off the water... can't do anything about flood water here if we were home... MH is high enough flood water shouldn't touch it....

(Wow, I'm impressed... didn't know you were a pic techy. Nice graphic!)

Lee and others affected by this hurricane, let us know when you can how it's going and that you are safe. We will all be worried about you guys. Won't be long now...

I am right on the coast near Folly Beach. Right now we are getting moderate winds and rain bands moving thru. We missed the big stuff thank God. Be careful out there! NC, VA and points east

Don`t be too impressed I "borrowed" it from another forum. Made final preps today, moved crab pots, used about 1000 feet of crab pot rope tying things down at the Crab House, for all the good it will do. Brought all the pumps ashore but one. Raised refrigerators up on cinder blocks. One more trip out there tomorrow morning, power it down and then come home and hunker down til Sunday.

Here`s another borrowed one.

Sounds like you're well prepared Crabman. Of course I figured a good scouter would be. Be safe, we'll be thinking about you through the ordeal. Keep us posted.

Hey Joe, I lived in Ocean County for most of my first 15 years. Took my little 14' aluminum boat out on the Barnegat Bay many times. Was up there last Winter, that place has really built up since the 70`s. Traffic was horrible even then.

My old Scout shirt with council patch.

We were taking a schooner out from Newport, RI for an evening cruse to celebrate my son's engagement today ( saturday). It was canceled and we received a full refund, so are planning on an indoor celebration somewhere on high ground. The state parks on Cape Cod and surrounding beach areas are making people leave their campsites today. Hopefully we can head back to the beach for Labor Day weekend.

Conditions deteriorating now. Heavy NE winds and torrential rain. Barometer extremely low. Power still holding.......

Glad to hear it Joe! Even better that you could get away to safety.

Glad to hear Lee and family are all well. Hope the crab shack made it!

I`m back online! The power just came back on. No damage here at the house, just a mess with limbs, leaves etc. that we have all been cleaning up. I could not get down to the water to see the crab house, the roads there were still salt water flooded. One of my workers who lives down there waded to the shore and said he could see obvious damage from his vantage point which I expected with the high tides, but he said it did not appear as bad as Floyd.. Will try later this afternoon to get down there. Thanks for all the well wishes and concerns. My family is safe, that`s the main thing. -Lee
