Ice Storm
Dawn in Mayberry!!!! It is getting daylight here in my Okla Panhandle home town. Ice storm has coated all the trees. Tree limbs “popping” and falling all around. By “popping” I do mean “Popping”. Sounds like gun fire. My neighbor has several large Elm trees that look like toothpicks sticking up. Nothing left but the trunks. What a mess. What is happening in your world?

We've been lucky so far. Under a Freezing rain advisory but got all rain. Rain again today with a wintry mix. 2 years ago we lost power for 5 days because of an ice storm. Would much rather have snow and I hate that 4 letter word.

Just coming out of a stretch in the low to mid-20's and headed to a more traditional wet and 40'ish... We had an ice storm back in January of 2012 and know that "popping" sound. Our lot backs up against a green belt with a lot of alder and birch trees and they had a ton of ice on all the bare branches. The popping and cracking was quite loud and seemed to be coming from all around you. Here's a shot of a Japanese Maple at the top of the driveway to give you an idea of how heavy the ice was during that event:

nuttin.. Sunny and 20 now.. We had a bad ice storm in '98 where power was out for some for 21 days.. Pretty serious where the temperature is usually hovering between -20 and plus 20
be very careful with trees above you. They can let go

Cloudy, rainy day in the 50s. Supposed to have gotten 2-4" of snow but we will settle for this rain. Lord knows this high mountain desert needs it!
Nice day to settle in and watch some football.
Happy Ring,
Jeff

Here is what we had on 1/11/17, yesterday the 15th it was 35, today 40, tomorrow and the next day in the 50's.
We get what are called chinook winds that come from the southwest and push the jet stream north. I have seen it go from -14 to 40 in a matter of a few hours.

Yesterday (17TH) was a beautiful day in Mayberry. Town sounded like a huge beehive. Chainsaws buzzing in every backyard. I'm sure today will be the same.

jesus, that has to be up near Crested butte or something. Here in Denver we have a few inches on the ground from the last storm a few days ago. Roads are already dry except in the burbs where I'm at. Supposed to get up to 47 down here in the 'low lands'.

Yup, that's Crested Butte. This is St. Elmo, near Buena Vista.

Yikes. My wife and I have Buena Vista on our short list of places to move in the next year or 2. I *Won't* show her this picture.
