I'm Looking For Free Camping in Colorado

I started my summer trip a few days ago, and I'll be rolling in to Colorado by Saturday.

Does anyone have any suggestions for BLM or National Forest boondocking locations, preferably not too far from I-70. It doesn't have to be near any major cities, so a secluded area won't be a problem.

I plan to spend a few days or a week in Colorado if I can find a decent spot for free camping. Then I'll head on over to Moab, UT.

Thanks

Bill

Bill,

There are some web sites over in the Boondocking forum that may be helpful, but I did run across the following web site and it does reference some additional free or low fee camping in Colorado. The town names may get you close to I-70.

thanks for the links Bob and Rodro. However, my plans changed. I drove straight through Colorado today from central Kansas. I'm in Moab now.

I found a place to dry camp for $10 a night. Seems like every place in town is full. Sand flats, full. Arches national park, full.

Monday I'll go to the BLM office in town and get the lowdown on the best places to get some free boondocking. I figure a lot of spots will open up on Monday, or at least I'm hoping.

Bill,

If you can, take some photos of the boondocking areas you camp at, locations, and would also be interested in your opinion of the general area.

Might be good reference information to post over in the "Boondocking" section of the forum. I hope to get out that way next year and I'm trying to gather as much "off the grid" camping info as I can.

Thanks,

Bob
