Those "Beetles" brought back memories! I owned a 1964 and 1970 bug! I took my yellow '70' bug to Milan Dragway here in Michigan a loooong time ago and brought home a trophy. I still have my time tickets and pit pass, recall my "win" time was 19.01, don't recall the speed (around 65 mph).

I'd love to have that red VW Beetle.
I owned a 1968 Fastback, 1968 Squareback and 1970 Super Beetle.
Loved them all, but once the family got here that had to go.
I will have another someday now :-)

That's my 74 superbeetle that my parents purchased new just before they got married. Its for the most part un changed/stock except an upgraded stereo, a tach and a re-spray about 10yrs ago.

In 1972 I bought the DW a '66 beetle, the same color as your top photo. Payments were $17.00 a month at the local credit union and of course gas was even cheaper. No a/c but she really loved that thing. Wish I had it today.

This is NOT me on that Lizard.
My boss; and his work hands, were rounding up his cattle in the Trinity River Basin(east TX.). The riders heard one of there cattle dogs making a commotion in the brush, then it got quiet. When they went to investigate, they found an Alligator making a meal of the dog. A couple of the cowboys ended the gators life. Boss told me he had been missing a few calves prior to that time. The gator measured 12-1/2' .
Com-mo-tion
1. A state of confused and noisy disturbance. 
2. Civil insurrection: "damage caused by civil commotion".
