Best decision in the long run. Get out, get away and early.

I agree - Hurricanes are way to unpredictable to try and stick it out. Be safe!

I called my big bro here from Australia who lives in Arlington. Earlier when the storm hit hardest, he (his kids/grandkids) also hunkered down in my niece’s house as the electricity went out. The tall trees in their neighborhood have blown over in the past three major storms, so they don't have that worry; but still no power.

For those who don't know, we are currently in Norther Australia.

Otherwise…..You know what's neat? Today (8pm ET on Monday US time) we were shopping at a local store here in Australia. The clerk asked where we were from (I guess we have an accent LOL). She asked if we knew anyone from the hurricane affected area. I shared Lee's/Crabman's and my brother's (Arlington Va) stories. This lady was genuinely concerned and wished our family/friends the best. How kind of her to ask! She genuinely cared.
Members affected by Sandy, keep us apprised on how it goes.

For us, we will share your stories with the Australians we are visiting that are interested. Best to all of you.
of you.

Well made out o.k. not even a power outage, and i am suprised about that. no trees down, the power goes out very often around here on the average about once a month. now all there is to do is clean up all the leaves and compared to what had happen down in New Jersey, New York, and coastal CT. and else where. the leaves are nothing to clean up. hope everyone else came out o.k.

Just got power back in NJ. We are approx 7 miles from NYC. Got very little rain! All coastal areas or tidal rivers got hit hard! Worst then a Hurricane. Irene!!
