Priceless!

My son comes home Monday for Christmas Leave from Fort Waynewright, AK where he is attending Army Infantry Training. When I asked him what he wanted to do while he was home he says, "anything but camping Dad, although it would be nice to do the campfire on the farm and roast dogs and marshmallows.

Moral of the story:

New Jayco Pop-Up - $6,000.00
RV Cover For Storage - $65.00
Campfire Memories - PRICELESS!

I guess Christmas Dinner is gonna be Hot Dogs and Smores.

I was in the army too. I remember bivwac and the overnighters out of doors. One thing I always loved though was a campfire! Is your son doing infantry training as a part of "basic training" or is this advanced training for him?

I was in the army too for 13 years and spent many a day and night on exercises especially in Germany and many on here who have spent time in the military in Germany will remember how damp and cold it can get.

I vowed to never do the tenting thing again and unless I can live in comfort and that includes having my morning shower, so the reason for my 5th wheel.

I will also be an old scrooge here as I do not like the smell of campfires (maybe because I am an ex-smoker) and see no need for them unless they are to be used for cooking.

It's advance training. Heh did boot at Fort Benning. The wife and I got to attend the graduation. It was awesome.

He's following in his old mans oot steps. I'm a 10 year combat Marine. He deploys in May for a year.

Scary. We reallymissed and worried about our son and our son-in-law while they deployed a few years ago. But we were pretty proud of them as well as they were of themselves! Hope all goes well for your son. Thanks for sharing his story. He will stay in our thoughts and prayers

Thanks. It's really scary, I actually loose sleep over it sometimes. All we can do is pray and hope for the best.
