I've never bought a new truck (brand new); they have always been used, and at the very least, no less than 75K miles on them.

My 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 was bought used and pulled my Jayco Featherlight 16xrb for a year. It had 212K on it; my son was in need of a truck, so I gave it to him and bought a 2007 Ford F150 with 101K on it. It now has the pulling duty.

Well. You are the one that is going to have to tell my boss.

He's been waiting to NOT see me for a while now.

Lots of people spending lots of money to be on the water this holiday weekend. But I'm getting paid to do it. But I guarantee you everybody else is having a lot more fun than I am. Five more days and I'm off this rust bucket.

Didn't do a thing while camping this week's end. Left Wednesday for Enid Lake, MS, though I would gamble on a walk up site as everything had been Reserved that could be. Got a backside site that was perfect nestled back in some tall trees. Maybe 100' to the bathrooms, trees between me an neighboring sites, which didn't fill up till late Thursday evening.......and those spent all their time down closer to the lake at sites their friends had.....quiet, peacefully, cool mornings, mid 70's late afternoon. No TV, no computer, turned off the cell phone alerts..........just me, the dogs and pure down time. Nothing like a nap in early afternoon with the breeze blowing through the screens on the bed............some coffee, a good book, did some watercolor painting studies......but, mostly just turned off to everything. Counting heart beats and swaying tree tops against an azure blue sky with not a cloud to be seen. Did have dinner with the grandkids and step-daughter who were camping over in the primitive section a few coves over (5 miles as the crow flies.....maybe 12 if you drive the winding roads)....

Sometimes you just need no activities to totally recharge.....

One thing I was amazed by...........the toys! Good Gawd Almighty....these red neck boys in MS sure like there toys. Must be some local contest, glad I didn't get the memo. I watched one guy make 4 trips to get everything down to his site on the lake point loop. First, was the biggest 5th wheeler I've ever seen. He arrived Wednesday afternoon before it got too crowded.....good thing, cause that big azz truck (dual rear axles, 8 drive tires, lift kit, dual turbos supercharged cummings with the side stack exhaust and cattle guard front grill) just barely fit down the park road. Wasn't no work truck, that's for sure........spit polished to a brilliant red shine. Second trip, had to be a 32-34' party barge pontoon boat..............again decked out with all the bells and whistles one could imagine. Third trip, Legend bass boat with the 300 HP outboard......fully decked out. Fourth trip........flat bed with 2 golf carts, competition sized SS smoker grill and storage boxes........................and everything, I mean, everything was waxed and polished to a showroom floor sheen. Funny thing, there's was no launch ramp down that loop......he made the trip down, round the loop and back up. It was the great toy parade.....there is truth in the old saying "the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.....".

I have to say though, IMHO, the winner was the guy who brought down his what had to be an 8 person hot tube on the back of a flat bed trailer...........

I got exhausted just watching him making all the trips.........I decided a nap was in order.
