yes I miss the pop up and being able to take the canoe with us, but with the new hybrid I have no way to take it.

The new trailer is on the back driveway where this wood is usually kept and the hybrid won't fit here so had to switch.

there is another 2 cord still needing split out of the pic.

You must be expecting a long winter. We sold our wood stove last spring. The kids have moved away and my wife refuses to split, stack, and carry wood. The plus side is no more mess in the house and the walls and drapes will stay clean longer.

Going on week three living in the pup while the electrical and mechanical contractors replace the electrical, HVAC (including ducts) and the gas systems. Electrical rough-in has passed code inspection, hopefully the HVAC and gas will pass rough-in inspection come Monday. We have the exterior wall insulation done and if all goes well come Monday I can start hanging drywall..... Looks like we'll be in the pup another week at least...........I'd rather be camping!!!!!

This is actually for next years heating. This years wood is already inside. A lot of work but I love it. Getting harder to get wood though nowadays. No money in producing it.

I will likely be installing a split air system next year and will keep my wood down to a cord and a half per year. It can get to -30 in January and February so those mini splits don't work very well if at all during that time.

Hope everything works out...messy weak for you coming up. I like hanging drywall but I always hired out the taping and sanding.

What is a bush cord going for down your way? I pay $260 split and delivered.

I was getting it for $240 but the guy I was getting it from sold his processor and is going out west. He had 3 cord left for me and charged 250 a cord. Unsure what I will pay next year.
NBPower was clearing all of the power lines of trees though and I picked up about 3 cord free from them. Had to saw it and split it though.

If you all call that fun, I've got a ditch that needs digging. Seriously, you must be hardy folks. We have some business in the Bakken (ND) and that is enough for me. I would be hibernating all winter in New Brunswick.

Yes, we do have some hot weather - upto 120, but until recently, there was little humidity. Also the higher altitudes are one hour away and that can make a difference of 30+ degrees. Our cabin fever comes in the summer time, when we spend more time indoors with the air conditioning.

And, yes, in keepting with the thread - I would rather be camping.

The thing we don't have though is the deadly snakes,spiders and other small nasties that you have to watch out for in the warmer climates....the cold winters kill just about everything.

We do have the odd grizzly but you can see them coming..lol

As for critters, we are fairly lucky. In many years of hiking, i have seen one gila monster and one snake. We have few spiders but a good amount of cute and benficial toads and desert tortoises. The good news for our pet lovers is that we have NO fleas. There are tons of ants - varying types, and none is nice.

Besides the heat; the wind; dust; etc. our biggest hardship is HOA's. RV's need to be stored and indoor storage is all that makes sense, so it becomes costly. The cost of camping is more expensive for us, but I would STILL rather be camping.

For the record, a grizzly sighting would likely cause some sort of heart episode with me - I'll stick with the toads.

Seriously though, do you NOT have to worry about termites up in your neck of the woods? Around hear it is understood to never stack wood inside the garage or next to the house for fear of termites.

We don't burn a lot fires at home -- certainly would be for aesthetics not heating if we did -- but I still keep a couple cords of oak on hand for camping, cooking, and the occasional fireplace fire. My wood is stacked off the ground in a small wood shed about 50' from the house. Guess it helps that I don't have to brave -30* when it's time to grab a few pieces.
