My Mother's family was part of the Mennonite pilgramage from the east to the west an awful long time ago - could you imagine a wack of kids and your whole life packed into one of those things?? Now that's roughin' it!

That would be roughing it "not smoothly" but better than being in the saddle all day and sleeping on the ground. As Robert Duvall said in TV movie Broken Trail... "It's a wonderful life as long as it's not raining or snowing".
