Skating with the big guys

DW's nephew Logan won a contest and got to skate during the warmup with the Winnipeg Jets during their home game against the Buffalo Sabres. He's only 9 and was so excited. He stood beside his favorite player, Tyler Myers, during the national anthem. Fortunately, we were at the game through some extra tickets my sister had, so we got to see the whole thing. These are the official photos taken by the team.

Great memory for him. We are going to see the Jets play the Canucks in Vancouver in March. Hubby is big Jets fan, I'm for the Canucks. Will be a fun night!

Awesome, that is something he will remember in detail for the rest of his life.

When I was 9 y/o I was selected to be the honorary Batboy for the SF Giants for a game against the Cardinals. 30+ years later I remember it like yesterday, even the smallest details.

I'm not much of a hockey fan, and this was the first NHL game I've been to since the mid 1990's when the "former" Winnipeg Jets (now the Phoenix Coyotes) were in town. But I have to say I can understand why people get excited for it. The atmosphere in the arena was just unbelievable, lots of music and cheering. It was quite something to experience, and it was just a regular season game. I can only imagine what it's like during the playoffs.

Love it. Living in Upstate NY, I have never actually come across another Winnipeg Jets fan in my life. I met and became friends with Kris King back in the late 80's when he played in our home town for the minor league affiliate of the Red Wings and followed his career to the NHL and eventually to the Jets. Even though Kris moved on to other teams later in his career, I've remained a Jets fan ever since. Heck, I even know the correct spelling of Byfuglien!

Yup, I remember Kris King. And the last NHL game I was at, many years ago, was the original Jets versus the Red Wings. That would have been 1995 or 1996. I've been to some Manitoba Moose games when they were the farm club for the Vancouver Canucks. That was pretty good hockey, too.

To tell you the truth, I actually prefer football.

That is awesome!! My daughter was a softball player and got to meet some of idols in the softball world with pictures when she was younger. Now she is a coach and was at a conference in Atlanta and was having beers with the same players. She sent me a text like she does it every weekend
