Solar Eclipse Plans?

I'm an amateur astronomer and we will be less than 100 miles from the total eclipse path and not going to miss it. We had a partial eclipse here in the early 80's I think and it was pretty cool. We'll be in the Hopkinsville, KY area and I'll have my Orion Telescope Orion StarMax 90mm TableTop Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope | Orion Telescopes with proper sun filter. Here's the path of the eclipse. https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com...laces-to-view/

The DW, DCs (Dear Canines ) and I are thinking about coming down from Indianapolis to see it, but I have not investigated nearby camping (or WalMart) options yet.

Yep, my wife has to see this too so we'll be heading now somewhere in Ky or Tenn. I looked at some KOA's and they were $40 previous week then go to $85 with a minimum stay of like 3-4 days.

Hopefully we can get in somewhere.

Best regards, Doug

Thanks for the link, it should be easy to get my son and I in the right position to witness this.

We have reservations at Dreher Island State Park in South Carolina. Will probably take a couple of the grandkids.

I guess I'll just step outside my house and watch it. Looks like it might pass right over me, or real close anyways since I live midway between Knoxville & Chattanooga TN. LOL

We have friends who live in Nebraska, dead in the center of the band of totality. Since it's less than 2 hours from home, that's probably where we will be for the eclipse. We beat around trying to camp, but with the thousands of folks all competing for the same few campgrounds, it's easier for us to just make it a day trip. The odds are that we'd end up camping all most as far off the eclipse path as we are now.

We're visiting our niece's family in Murfreesboro, TN in August to see the total eclipse. We're camping at Cedars of Lebanon State Park about 20 minutes north of Murfreesboro.

All I saw was the 21st and I was about to head up to Wyoming for lunch. What a waste that would have been. I put this on my calendar though.

Just booked my site at
Cadiz, Kentucky Campground | Kentucky Lakes / Prizer Point KOA
We will be there 8/17-8/22. Hoping for good weather.
I've always wanted to visit this area, so works out good.

Luckily we live pretty much centerline of it.....unfortunately we won't be camping so I'll just have to walk out in our work parking lot to see it.

We'll be at a friend's grandmother's farm in IL, about 20 miles from Carbondale.

We're making a whole vacation out of it though.

From what I understand, the "epicenter" of the event will be just outside Carbondale IL, and NASA is set to live-stream from the HS stadium there.

It should be pretty neat, I just hope we don't get caught up in any fuel or supply shortages.

Perryville MO. Is expecting 48,000 people. There population is around 7000. So I don't want to be there. Carbondale is also expecting a large amount of folks. I just hope all are safe. Too many folks in one place makes me nervous this day and time. I would need more Jack and Coke.
