Stand for name sign?

Like many of you we have a wooden sign with our name on it but I frequently can't find a good place to put it. Anyone ever built a simple, lightweight stand for it?

I hang mine from the front license plate. Sometimes I will also use a shepherd's hook.

We carry a shepherds staff to hang ours. I made the sign and lacquered the daylights out of it and hang it wherever we set up camp. Sorry this pic is a bit old from our last POS before we upgraded to the beautiful Jayco 377.

The shepards hook is a great idea. I was imagining something lower to the ground but I just realized I could always just cut it shorter. I'll be stopping by Home Depot on the way home from work tomorrow to see what they have. Thanks!

I have no desire to hang a sign telling people my name or where I live. I would rather strike up a conversation with other campers to find out this info if they wish to supply it. I have boated all my life and have never put a name or home port on them, this is another tradition I don't get.

A garden flag stand works well. The kind that takes a 12 x 18 is what we use.

Exactly what the DW uses. I made the sign to fit the stand.

Think of it as a "WELCOME MAT" and a smile next time you see one. The introduction has already been extended to my DW or grandkids as they pass or need assistance knowing a friendly family stands behind it. That's what we get from that sign.

Our sign(s) came from a fellow in Texas that custom makes 'em, and sells on E-Bay. We have our first names, and a "welcome to our campsite" sign, but no city. It's a lot of fun to watch people look at it, and say "how the heck do you pronounce THAT name?" I think the signs were about $40, but MUCH nicer than what I could make myself.

Haven't used a sign in years, but, BigJohnD is across the front of the AC cover. If anyone on this forum passed by our rig and took a closer look, you'd probably recognize the mods anyway and know who's it was.

I like the signs a lot, but I feel the same way about having my name displayed. I would rather show a welcome in a different way. I don't even have my last name displayed anywhere on or around our house though. In the field of work I'm in seeing peoples names displayed, especially children, makes me cringe after the training I've had.

We use to do it this way;

Now it's been like this last few years;

That's what we use. We had our sign made at a little shop in Gatlinburg in 2015. It's small and I found a small flag stand that works perfectly. It displays our first names and hometown.

Given how much information we freely give to the stores we shop at using credit cards and loyalty cards I'm unclear what's driving the fear of showing your first name and hometown.

We have a wire flag hanger like thing mounted on the back of our sign and tie-wrap the hanger to my tounge jack.

I can forge custom shepherds hooks or whatever sign holder desired.

Below are a custom address marker sign I made for a neighbor and the sign holder I made for our company -

Thanks. We're no longer doing it as a formal side business because it became too much like work. Now I'm back to just forging as a hobby and doing little custom projects for people from time to time, it's now fun again !

I've made several items for our house and TT -

Awesome skill you have. It's amazing that if you HAVE to do something, it's work. If you DON'T have to do it, just choose to, it becomes fun. I'm looking forward to the fun side of life.
