...this weekend. We had planned to spend the weekend on the IL river. As much as we love to camp, we don't want to spend our weekend in the pup watching dvd's and surrendering to the a/c. Camping is about being outside, enjoying the fresh air, cookin' over a fire, and enjoying piece & quiet.

To be blunt- Its just friggin' hot here...and no relief in sight. As I write, its 8:25 pm (cst) and its 96 degrees outside- and the humidity is horribly high. These temps make for miserable camping- my wife will attest to that. Even the dog complains. I think its a no go this weekend.

I'd have to agree Tyreguy. We were supposed to head out this weekend as well, but triple digit heat down here in Texas combined with a burn ban and no water flowing in the river didn't sound like a good plan!

Here in central PA on Thursday it hit 98 degrees. I got up this morning (Friday) at 5:30 AM to let the dog out and was already 82 degrees with a high of 100 degrees. Heading for the RV mid afternoon, I think the A/C may get a workout the next couple of days. For those in the north-east, snow has been forecast for late November. Stay cool!!!!!!!!!

Nearly all of Texas' 254 counties have a burn ban in effect, and most have had 15 to 30 continuous days of 100 degree heat. We went out over July 4th weekend and ran the a/c and DVD instead of enjoying the great oudoors while getting sick eating too many smores. Not what I call a fun camping experience....but October will be here soon.

It was 100 F here in Southern Ontario yesterday. Got to the trailer this afternoon, and it is quite comfortable. Only ran the A/C for about half an hour.

And to think that I was whinning about unusually cool weather in the North West. You all have my sympathy.

We are traveling up the coast of Maine. Boy it is hot here too. 96 degrees for the past week! The ocean water is cold and refreshing though. We were in Scarboro, then Camden/Rockport and are now in Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor. 86 degrees, a cold front lol. We are taking a whale and puffin cruise this week and they told us to wear sweat shirts/jackets/long pants and GLOVES! Cannot wait to be COLD! Presently we are camped on the beach and we are sitting inside with the A/C and watching the Philly/SanDeigo baseball game. Even the dogs won't go outside!

Positive confirmation on the way-too-uncomfortable temps for this weekend- our digital outdoor thermostat is reading 101...in the shade...and dosen't give heat index readings (which are probably higher yet!)...

Its just plain miserable, folks. And I have to work in the stuff everyday! These temps are just one more reason we really like Fall camping, right into December here.
