Travel Information, please. South Bound I-75 KY into TN

I remember the terrain being "not-to-steep" around Corbin, KY and then leveling out again just before Knoxville, TN. But, my memory isn't what it used to be. Where do the steeper (mountain)grades start and stop along that route?

And if you know of any good places to spend the night along that route, I would appreciate that info too.

Went through there last year this time.
As I recall, it gets steep right at the TN border around Jelico and is pretty steep all the way into Knoxville.
There's another few good grade between Knoxville and Chatanooga.
I never stop until I get to Meacon, Ga so not able to make any recommendations.
I have ran into some wicked fog around Jelico too, late evening and early morning.

Best regards,
Doug

Talk about memory....I travel that way every year but I don't have much recollection of too steep a grade anywhere along there. Of course it's all relative as far as one persons definition of "steep". But I do remember that we always stay at the Corbin KOA. It is very nice. And my wife just reminded me that if you stop at the Renfro Valley KOA, be prepared for steep hills. One year Corbin messed up our reservation and they gave us a free night....so they treat you right.

OnTheGo, are you going south over the holidays? We had planned to take a long trip to SC over Christmas break but I chickened out. I was worried about taking the trailer through bad weather.

Kim, we are leaving Winton Woods on Tuesday and heading south. don't know if we're going east when we get to Knoxville, or south thru Atlanta. We plan to eventually end up in Florida and be there for the season.

I totally agree with your decision not to travel in bad weather. We have stayed north longer than is comfortable for us, but we had some family considerations we had to deal with before we could leave. Worrying about weather takes away from a pleasant trip. Christmas in SC does sound great though. Maybe you will change your mind and get some good traveling weather. Aren't you glad you didn't have a trip planned through the Midwest today?
