Veterans Day

I think this monument from the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Va. is an appropriate salute.

Recently read the following:

It's the Soldier, not the reporter, who gave us freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet, who gave us freedom of speech.
It's the Soldier, not the politicians, who ensures our rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
And last, it's the Soldier who salutes the Flag, serves beneath that Flag, and whose coffin is draped by that Flag.

And to my high school best buddy, who didn't make it home from 'Nam, thanks for your sacrifice, and may you rest in peace.

Thank you to all the veterans not just on this day but everyday. I am so grateful to be a daughter of a WWII Army Veteran who received 2 silver stars and a bronze metal for his valor. He passed just a month ago today.
Thank you Dad and I miss you terribly. May you rest in peace.

And to my son who served in the army 2 tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He came home injured from Afghanistan from a roadside IED. May you have a speedy recovery. I miss you and love you.

Thank you to all the veterans and their families.

Bumped up from one year ago. Many thanks to All our Veterans on this day..11/11
The date originates from the signing of the WWI armistice, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918.

Thanks for the bump Crabman.
To all my fellow Veterans, Thank You for your service.

I enjoyed a free lunch at O'Charlie's today. Like many vets I seen there, it was the thought that counted.
Most everyone tipped the waitress the price of our meals. Pay it forward kind of.

Kind regards,
Doug

Thanks to my fellow Vets.

This morning I asked all the Vets at work this question: If you had one wish that was granted in honor of your service to the country, what would it be?

All of them answered without an "I" in the answer......

Thanks Lord, for those that serve purposes higher than self.

Thanks to all the vets, especially my Dad, uncles who served in WW2 and grand father who served in WW1. I loved to hear him tell stories about mules who he liked to point out came before the Jeep.

We have Memorial day to honor those that have died in combat. We have Veterans day to remember all that have served and we have Armed Forces day to honor those that are currently serving. This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend. I honor those fellow vets that we lost.

Thanks to all the Military folks who do what they do. Especially those in danger in foreign anti-American countries. My family appreciates you. My grandfathers served during WW2. My father served as well and met my mom at a dance on base. God Bless America. Home of the free because of the brave....
