Water Water Everywhere

Central Illinois was smacked with alot of rain these past few days, and word got to my wife that another Seasonal camper at our resort has 6ft of water in their RV. Im skeptical of that report, but they were very near the lake.

The staff was unable to do a survey due to the fact that a low area between the office & entrance to the camp grounds was under water when we called earlier today.

Another call to their office a few minutes ago resulted in the answering machine. Im hopeful they are now out and giving a look-see at the extent of the flooding.

Wife informed me we "did not" have flood insurance on our unit. It is on our vehicle insurance.

I'm now curious as to what kind of insurance is available for RVs.
If we survive this episode, we "definitely have plans" on getting flood insurance if possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks !

We have received word that our Jayco is OK !!!! Oh happy days !!!

Some water damage at the resort, but nothing serious. Initial reports are that a dumpster is floating down the nearby creek. Recovery expected to be quick.

Wow, that is scary. I'm pretty sure we don't have flood insurance for our rv. Can't remember, but am heading out for a BBQ tonight and can't check our policy. Wow, when we head back East in couple of weeks and the weather report says "flooding" concerns, we may start paying attention though!!!! Glad to hear things have turned out better for you

Thanks healthi !!!

Yes, things turned out alright this time, fortunately.
We are going to check about that insurance tomorrow, our agent wasn't in today.

That kind of damage would have taken us out of the game. We have all of our "spare" dollars in the RV and golf cart. We wouldnt have done that if we didnt luv the RV life like we do. I realize that we are parked at a camp ground, and we dont tow, but we really do like the life style and most of all the people we encounter, or reside by.

I am sure happy things turned out OK for you! We are insured through Good Sams and have replacement coverage but I'm not sue if it covers floods...but I sure am going to check and see as that is something I never thought of.

Thanks Hondo !! Appreciate the concern.

We dodged a bullet, its true. We will be sure to post any information concerning "flood" insurance we get from our agent. It would have to be "replacement" (such as yours) or why bother? We are in no condition to absorb even half the cost at this stage.
With the weather as odd as its been with these "flash flood" issues, it may be worth looking into.
