Went Swimming in November, Arrrgh!
I`ve been doing storm damage repairs to my crabhouse of late, and recently tested the waters after taking a fall overboard head first. A few things I learned
1. Hammers do not float, had one in my hand when I went. Its missing in action.
2. Water was DAM cold, pretty well took my breath.
3.Cell phones do not work underwater, and do not work after they dry out. I took out the battery and dried the phone, but next day after reinstalling the battery the phone began to sizzle.
4. "Rugged" cell phones are not that rugged.
5. My favorite hat is still missing in action as well.
6. Insurance cards etc in my wallet did not like water either, unreadable now.
7. Luckily my glasses stayed on.
So swimming in November aint all its cracked up to be! No POLAR plunges for Crabman in February.
I also hit two of my fingers with a hammer and saw stars, cussed, felt pain clear down to my toes. That was 5 days ago and they still hurt, nails are black. (sigh)

Sorry to hear you took a plunge Crabman.
Glad you're ok.
Thaw out and take the rest of the day off :-)

Sorry to hear about your swimming plunge Crabman. With time, those nails will heal. The cell phone may be another matter though. I assume you went into salt water. For future reference on electronic stuff which have taken a bath in salt water, your only hope is to flush them with fresh water to remove the salt, then let them dry. Distilled water would be the best to use for flushing. If you're lucky, this will recover them.

"I assume you went into salt water."
Yep. Good old Chesapeake bay salt water.

I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever I am willing to loan you. He's big, brown, and loves water!

I guess after that, all work came to a grinding halt?

Went home, showered, put on fresh clothes and went back to work.

Crabman - my daughter says that embedding her phone in dry rice for a couple of days sucked the water out of her phone when it went swimming, and it seemed to work. But that was fresh ? (toilet) water, so don't know about the salt variety.
And if you like, I will forward your name on to the Polar Club in DC, when they swim in the Potomac river in January. I hear they are always looking for new members.
Sorry about your fingers and their encounter with the hammer. I can sure identify with that. To me there are two things in the top category of pain - hitting your finger or thumb with a 3 pound hammer, and having a large kidney stone. Pretty much the same results. Hope you recover soon.

Crabman first question did nambarc shove you in?
Your cell phone... too late now.. but for future reference after a soaking like that remove the battery and toss the phone into a jar of fresh water.. and take the jar to a repair shop.. they can usually save it...

1. Nambarc had to be involved somehow. A drama of this magnitude MUST be somebody`s fault!
2. Good to know about the phones, been through 3 in 3 months.

Crabby was still using a 6 yr old flip-phone! My quess is that the antiquated flip-phone colaborated with Namby to put it out of Crabby's misery. Not the best way to final upgrade your cell, but sounds like it worked LOL
