I dropped it off at the dealership to begin the process of getting the front cap repainted under warranty.

I don't like not seeing it in my driveway.

Well

DW and I winterized our Jay Flight then I went across the creek and helped my good friend and neighbor wint4rize his Coachman. Ordered our RV shelter that I had been contemplating for months and then the good friend and neighbor from across the creek brought his 8N Ford and leveled the gravel pad the shelter will be placed on. Now the wait begins. Dealer said 6-8 weeks and I know it could be longer. Gets kinda chilly here in the hills middle of January !!

Since we will be going out of town for 2 weeks during Thanksgiving and the weather in North Texas can be screwy, I went ahead and winterized!! NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!

I stare wistfully at it. Sitting there under 2 inches of snow, saying "Please take me somewhere, anywhere."

Winterized stuff keeps filling the schedule so looks like January will be the next time out.

Set up my Tough Buddy catalytic heater inside the TT. Set my 20# propane tank outside and routed the propane hose through a window, sealing the crack with foam rubber and taping a sheet of plastic over the exterior to protect the foam rubber from rain. It's going to be down into the low 30's Tuesday morning, and there's no sense wasting propane and battery power by running the furnace to keep warm.

Have fun and be safe. Just leave the Fort in good shape for me. I arrive on 12-19-15 for a week.

It's been kind of windy here lately, and I noticed the television antenna adjuster assembly was squeaking a little. Disassembled the interior components and lubed various spots with a little white lithium grease. No more squeak!

Performed the bi-weekly maintenance on my Honda generator. New oil, cleaned air filters.

winterized and covered

Puget Sound area had a lull in rain and wind this weekend giving me the opportunity to drain, clean, and cover my trailer.

For those of you campers who use, or want to use compressed air on your freshwater system instead of the pink stuff, here is how I did it in less that 2 hours of work (over 2 days):
- tilted the trailer and used gravity to help drain the waterlines and HWH. Low point drains and HWH are in the back right corner of my trailer, so I raised the tongue up.
- opened all faucets, removed and put the outside shower wand into the bathtub for winter stowage (keep tabs on the washer, it is an odd size)
- opened the HWH drain and pressure relief and both low point drains.
- opened the freshwater tank drain valve

On day two,
- run the water pump 'till it pumps air
- close all faucets, valves, and low point drains.
- set compressor to 65psi, use adapter for city water connection and pressurize systems.
- open cold water low point drain and get rest of water out of HWH
- open HWH bypass and shut HWH cold water outlet valve.
- pressurize system again and open faucets one at a time starting with the lowest. For me, I started with the outside shower, then the toilet, then the bathtub, the bath sink, and finished with kitchen sink. Re-pressurize system as necessary. I cycled through all faucets twice.

- pour pink antifreeze into each p-trap. Also flush some down the toilet, then leave in the toilet bowl. This will ensure that both the blackwater dump valve and toilet valve are lubricated for winter. I used about 1/2 gallon total.

- Leave all faucets and valves open for the winter, and you are done.

Finally packed up and stored the blanket that came with the TT. It had been sitting in front of my bedroom closet since mid May.

Completely waxed after being washed a few days ago. Three coats of wax on the front cap.

Next up: This Sunday morning I will have all three holding tank valves repaired. Either gasket or complete valve depending on what it takes. My bath gray tank valve no longer closes. But as long as the valves are exposed to fix one, I'm going to do all three.

I had to take care of my son yesterday afternoon, so we went and got the trailer it's new state inspection. He was mostly okay with it, and the rig passed with flying colors. Incidentally, one of the first things I had to do when I pulled into the inspection station was put the truck in gear, manually engage the trailer brakes, and let the brake off the truck. The trailer was supposed to hold the truck back. Then I was to let it roll a few feet and use the trailer brakes to stop the whole rig. The tech seemed genuinely surprised when I passed his little "test"; I gave him some serious side eye on this one. I asked him why he was surprised, and he said that many don't pass that test!

Anyway, the boy was getting fussy, so I just brought the trailer back home and opened it up to air out. Tried to lube the windows (so they would slide open a bit easier) with limited success, installed my new paper towel rack, and sourced a 12V power supply for my pantry lighting project.

I was super happy just to see the trailer, even if it's just for some chores. I won't get to prep it for a trip for another few weeks and I'll probably take it back to storage tonight...

We bought our 2012 Eagle (used) about 2 weeks ago and will be taking delivery this Monday. While still at the dealer, I upgraded all lamps to LED and have purchased under cabinet LED light strips for the kitchen sink and stove areas.

Once we get our rig home, I will park it next to our detached garage and plug into a 50A weatherproof power receptacle and start customizing it further. We made a descision to protect our investment and gain flexibility before and after trips by installing a 22x36 foot, 14' high car port. We have already cleared all the trees in that area and await stump grinding and gravel services. Goal is to install water and sewer hookup eventually but that will come in Phase-2.

I will also be purchasing a queen size memory foam mattress topper next week. It will be nice to leave it in place from now on versus our pop-up camper where we had to fold it up and tuck it away "just right" in order to keep it in the camper.

Considering installation of an in-line power surge protector. The 50A units cost about $250 online and I can easily install myself. Any feedback on whether it's worth it or not? I understand the concept but don't know if these protect against things like huge spikes from nearby lightning, for example?

Found a double towel bar at ReStore today for $8.00 and installed it in the TT. They sell for around $40.00 at HomeDepot.

Cleaned up some green goo under the bathroom sink. It leaked from the bottle of Dometic toilet bowl cleaner.

Pink stuff in the water lines... Now our guests will have to walk into the house in the cold to use the facilities... Who else uses their TT as a guest house for the holidays?

Found another site to list mine for sale. This is my last Jayco. They no longer care about their owners like they used to. I have had 4 Jayco popups before this 19h and this is the last.
