This morning we attached some more plant anchors, four on the awning frame and one on the front door, for hanging silk geraniums and various little party lanterns. We also attached, to the inside of the front door, a threaded rod (with end caps, and held up by two more plant anchors) to hold the curtain panel(s) the DW made. When the silicon is dry, we can see whether there's enough room for both curtain panels, or just one. It depends on how thick the gathers end up being, 'cause there's only about half-an-inch between the door and the screen.

We also found out that we don't have enough fleece left over from another project to make black out curtains for the windows by the bed, so we'll have to get more to do that project. At least we know that the design will work. :-)

Can you share a pic of plant anchors on awning? Does hanging plants or water jugs from awning help for keeping awning open during slight winds? My DH is so quick to roll in awning at the slightest breeze that we are left in the sun...[emoji53] What do most of you do in wind?

Made the inevitable swap of a Coleman Mach digital thermostat for the crappy factory analog model in our 28DSBH White Hawk. Took ten minutes, wiring is identical. The digital is a bit deeper in size and it JUST clears the nearby cabinet door when it opens and closes. It's in a dopey location, right next to the kids' bunks and fairly low on the wall. It would have been great if it was installed on the bedroom side of the trailer near the adults...

Anyway, the digital thermostat shows you the actual temperature in your trailer and has a 1 degree swing, rather than the annoying 5 degree swing of the analog model. I often wonder why manufacturers try to save $30 this way - 99% of trailer owners would pay the $30 up front for something that actually works to keep them comfortable. At least make it an option...

Regardless, the new thermostat looks like it was always there and works great!

@ Country Mouse: Our plant anchors are for decorative hangings. Here's a pic of DH attaching one on the awning frame, whence hang our silk geraniums, and another of some on the front holding garlands (with bobby pins as cotter pins). Click image for larger version

We don't pull the awning in unless the wind gets pretty strong and/or it starts kind of rattling.

In the geranium picture, you see us learning something else: mind how close you get to the trees on the awning side. We couldn't extend the awning all the way 'cause we were about 6" too close to the trees.

Wow, that all looks so pretty! I thought you were hanging them from the ends of the awning for weight to hold awning in place during wind as well as looks. Saw an experienced rv'er do that with water jugs during windy weather before. Maybe you meant to but couldn't because of tree. 😉

Today was mod day...installed the fridge ducting and fan with digital temp controller, still need to wrap up the wiring. Installed the electrical hot water heater conversion, all wiring done and tested. Strapped a 4" PVC pipe to the rear bumper for storage of some of the poles and some rebar planning to use for grilling on fire pits.

Also took care of some spring maintenance, greased the hubs, torqued the lugs, checked and caulked the seams, siliconed the risers...next cloudy day it get a bath and wax.

Sitting here enjoying a second cup of coffee and waiting for the rain. At least with my new roof I can hear the TV.

Not today, but yesterday, I got up on the roof and rinsed off the roof and cleaned out the gutters, also washed the TT. Looks great. Also driveway camped Friday night and last night with the kids. Even dug out the camp grill and cooked breakfast on it right outside the TT. Headed out next Friday after the kids get out of school for two nights next weekend with the family. This will be our 3rd outing so far this season with many more already planned.

Just broke down and fired up the air conditioner. It's 90 degrees today here on the hill above Puget Sound.

Dragged her home from the coast yesterday. Got most of our stuff out last night. Now it's time for the chores. Gotta sweep/mop/vacuum the inside, inspect/wash the roof, wash/wax the sides, and check some bolts on the bottom. Then it's back to storage until the next adventure...

Last week, before we left, I installed my accumulator tank next to the water pump, and what a HUGE difference that made! The pump just runs now instead of cycling, and if I'm in the bathroom, I can't even hear it. In the kitchen I can just barely hear it. Such a GREAT mod!

I also broke the little plastic lanyard for the fresh water gravity fill cap. I had replaced it once before, not long ago actually. So I decided to just screw on a short piece of #16 jack chain. Now it will NEVER break again!

Today is laundry day so I switched from park water to internal to use my fresh water tank. I try to rotate this water on laundry days to keep it fresh. I always keep my fresh water tank full when in any park due to water outages which seem to happen to me frequently. This way I always have fresh water while other campers are suffering during the repair of the system by the park.

Now I just hope there isn't a water outage before I can fill the fresh tank back up later this morning.

A couple days ago I packed up, hooked up and hit the road. I decided to take a little road-trip vacation away from the campground I'm hosting at. Didn't go far, just southwest of Olympia, to Capital State Forest. I didn't even unhitch from the truck when I arrived.

My hosting workweek starts on Saturday, so I'm driving back to the campground early tomorrow morning.
